  • you had a '67 bug as your first car? jealous what year did you buy it?

yes I did, she was gorgeous too, 1 lady owner, a minter, that was 15 yrs ago

  • there's some great cars here too......who'd have thought it?

the '57 standard is a little stunner.

@Bellezza - that's a nice list! any more details on the Bug and the Chevy? Times etc?

(I ran my van on the strip a few times and posted a sub 18 second 1/4 but that was with full wooden camping interior, roofrack and a fridge full of beer.)

the bug didnt do good times Im afraid lol...not exactly a speed demon :)

the chevy however was different, it was a fully worked 265 small block V8, I cant recall exact times but Im sure it ran a 6/8 second? on the 1/4 mile

what sort of van was it? giggling at the visual of a beer fridge on board

  • it was the camper i posted in the appreciation thread - you can see some little hints - the porsche teledials and the exhaust - i was trying to keep it as a bit of a sleeper.

i think without the beer i'd have gained a 1/10th on my times........

  • 1990 Fiat Uno
    1995 Fiat Tipo
    1997 Renault Megane
    1972 VW Beetle
    1996 Rover 100
    1999 Suzuki Swift

All a bit sad, apart from the Beetle, although I sold it at a great loss, but needed the money so shouldn't really complain.

  • [quote=rc73;454753]1990 Fiat Uno

my friend had a Uno, great little car, super reliable and cheap as chips to run

  • Here's my anti-porn, anti-petrolhead tuppence...

    2 x Morris Minor
    1 x VW Beetle
    1x Lada
    2 x Ford Sierra
    3 x Volvo 740/940 estate

A car is just to get around in when you can't cycle. It's taken me 37 years to get through that lot.

Petrolheads please go back to the car thread, you are giving me a headache.

  • Here's my tuppence...

    2 x Morris Minor
    1 x VW Beetle

i like your tuppence.........these are porny.

  • One thread is really all you need to paste massive photos of lovely examples and even get nostalgic about the cars you've owned.
    Really, it's lame and crap.

I quite like cars, but I agree with Jimjams. The one thread is enough. And lists of things you have owned are really boring, be they cars or bikes.

(It would take me pages and pages to list all the cars I've owned. Only 2 of them have been bigger than 1:18 scale though.)

  • I don't feel that two threads out of fifteen thousand is excessive.......if only there were more threads on Rapha (it aint cheap, eh?) ghost bikes, how to skid and Unipack (they aint good, eh?)........

A lot of people on here have owned some interesting and beautiful cars and i'm finding it interesting......

I admit, lists are boring, luckily there's hardly any of them on the forum.........I'd like to see some pics of the cool cars people have owned though....

  • Johnny, was your M3 stock standard? what year?

  • All the cars I've ever owned were shit:

    1982 Honda Accord hatchback
    1983 Subaru GL estate
1996 Geo Metro hatchback (3 cylinder engine!)*
    1995 Plymouth Neon
    1986 Nissan Sentra

*The only car I ever bought new.

  • Yeah yeah another car thread. Meh.. it's all about the post count bitches! :P

My parent's old car that I bought. Mitsu Magna TP model. Only things of note were the stereo cost me more than the car and it took 3 bikes, 2 people and camping gear, food and tools to Kona 24hr MTB race.

  • I really do have more important things to do but this is inane enough to offer some rest for th brain.

can't remember the dates, that's just silly, but:

    austin allegro
    ford cortina 1
    austin princess
    sherpa van (on loan)
    ford cortina 2
    austin metro (yuck)
    Land Rover series 2a LWB
    hyundai pony
    fiat uno
    alfa 33 16v boxer cloverleaf
renault kangoo van (now company van)

  • 1967 VW Beetle

you had a '67 bug as your first car? jealous what year did you buy it?

It was all downhill from there. Beetle. Best car ever.

Don't flame me, I've posted why in the other car thread. ;)

    1974 beetle
    1965 mk1 ford cortina

  • 1990 Fiat Uno

my friend had a Uno, great little car, super reliable and cheap as chips to run

i drove a fiat uno round morocco once. i reversed into a tree and the 'u' fell off so it was called the fiat no for the rest of the trip. /crap story.

Johnny, was your M3 stock standard? what year?

It was a '96 and it was stock. It had the later 3.2l engine and the six speed 'box.

that was definitely faster and more refined then the older 3.0, nice car ...

  • I just read Bellezza's reply ^^ first and I had visions of a 3.2l 6_Speed Fiat Uno, heh heh

  • haha that would be a very interesting looking spec'd Uno

  • ^ thats quite a collection! ......did you own all these living somewhere in Oceania? ^

  • Is that like Atlantis ? I used to be a mechanic in Glasgow ,London and Cambridge ,hanging round and working in scrapyards all my life and welding rotten tin .
Bikes are so much more fun, less time working on them and more time using them. They're not stuffed full of carcinogenic poisons, don't burst into flames when you're working on them,or require you to pay a fortune in tax .

  • ^ I mean in the South Pacific,- Australasia.... I was just curious because alot of those vehicles were popular in that part of the globe
