i'm not an exactly an expert on him but he (and the wider De Stijl gang) were interested in non-representational art, i.e. paint on canvas blah blah blah...
My point is that such loaded (intellectually and historically) fine art can't just be transferred willy nilly to skin and still be expected to make sense. if you just like the pattern then fair enough, but in that case why directly reference a whole intellectual movement (for want of a better word)? i think decorative arts and illustration work well, like escher for example. Such standards of modern art as Mondrian, by their ubiquity, are removed from the thought that created them. That's why things like that Look logo are a bit gash (again, in my opinion).
I should mention that I reckon Hassan's gothic architectural piece on his arm is brilliant.
Thanks for the reply.
Is this just turning into yet another generic tattoo thread?
Here's some more inspiration to get it back on topic: http://cyclingtattoogallery.blogspot.com/

If anyone with a design angle fancies wiling away some of today I'd be grateful of some suggestions on a blazing sun/sprocket crossover pref in B&W but I'd consider colour as well

thanks! only problem is that the artist is in rhode island, so booking time with him tends to be a drawn out affair...

one of the check points involved getting an anchor tattoo.
I came first girl in this and won a free tattoo.
This is the design Tota and I decided on...It's on Roxy's flickr so I can't post it properly, but it's worth a look.

I think the anchor on my foot is on her flickr too.

Dont' get a sprocket.
There are actually exactly enough sprocket tattoos in the world, if one more person gets one, the world will actually collapse.
Fact.
PS, I have the start of a fantastic bike sleeve, and not one sprocket is among them. A chain ring shaped like a heart? Yes. A lockring? Check. A flying spanner? Roger. Not a single sprocket.

Oh, and as incentive I'm happy to help design a bike related tattoo for anyone who doesn't want a sprocket. Check out my avatar if your interested in my style.

See I like that a lot...the way the sprocket integrates with the heart shape is kind of what I'm thinking for a sun and sprocket but my artistic skills ran out somewhere around the time I was 7

I have half a chainring. Just half.

Okay what about a chain ring with perhaps some cranks arms representing a sun with rays coming off it?
