I was waiting while a mate of mine was getting tatooed. Flicking through the art books as you do. When I spotted a little black scorpion that I quite liked, on a page containing various small tats. I thought to myself why not have that on my shoulder blade.
Turned out quite nice for a little tattoo.
About 6 months later while sunbathing in the back garden. One of my housemates says.
"are'nt you a leo"
"Yeah, why do you ask......oh fook me"Had it for 12 years now.
It would be easy to get something done over the top of it, but not that many people notice the mistake and it reminds me not to take myself too seriously. -

I had the initial of a band I was in tattoed on my right upper arm when we were away gigging in Hungary (oh the high life)...they sacked me a month later...mwaaa waaaw waaaaaaaah!

Lifted from the References In Culture section of Mondrian's wikipedia page.
"The Look cycling team's bicycles and clothing designs were inspired by Mondrian's work throughout the 80's. The style was revived in 2008 for a limited edition frame."

i can't think of anything worse than having a company's name or logo tattooed on my skin. it would have to be something i felt seriously strongly about and even then... well, i'm not sure.
I came extremely close to having the Operation Ivy (a band) running man logo done on my chest years ago. relieved i didn't. These days I would struggle to decide what to have done.
It would be ridiculous to have a 'Mondrian' tattoo in my opinion, kind of missing the point of his work?
I think Dale's escher sleeve is really nice. was the impossible triangle thing done first?

A friend of an ex used to be in a band. They plugged away trying to make it happen for a few years and it was going nowhere, so he eventually decided that he should get a 'proper' job. So he quits the band and goes to work as an accountant. A month later they get signed.
The band?
Radiohead.

Bollocks! What's his name? I used to watch Radiohead before they were signed and I'm pretty certain they are all still the original members

A mate of mine had the Sepultura S logo on his arm.
Dont think the tattooist was aware it was a letter. Took my mate ages to realise it was back to front (I still giggle when I think of him looking in the mirror thinking nice!).Its a dragon now though.

No idea. Just a story I was told. I didn't think to ask for evidence.

if i'm not mistaken it's the carp-in-a-pond-with-floating-leaves one, which is a beautiful drawing i think.

Further props out to into you...have a lotus type thing done by French Thomas, and a Jap sleeve done by the late great Jay Saga. My sleeve is amazing, if i do say so myself, and i'm super lucky to have had it done by such a sorely missed tattooist.
Duncan did an ace sunflower on my mate, really unusual style, but absolutely wicked. Think i need Duncan to do my next one. Hmm.

Is this just turning into yet another generic tattoo thread?

What's the point of his work?
i'm not an exactly an expert on him but he (and the wider De Stijl gang) were interested in non-representational art, i.e. paint on canvas blah blah blah...
My point is that such loaded (intellectually and historically) fine art can't just be transferred willy nilly to skin and still be expected to make sense. if you just like the pattern then fair enough, but in that case why directly reference a whole intellectual movement (for want of a better word)? i think decorative arts and illustration work well, like escher for example. Such standards of modern art as Mondrian, by their ubiquity, are removed from the thought that created them. That's why things like that Look logo are a bit gash (again, in my opinion).
I should mention that I reckon Hassan's gothic architectural piece on his arm is brilliant.

@ Pistanator...quite possibly
@ CP....errrrrrrm I think that might be a little bit big for my back. I'm somewhat lacking in the huge lats and massive shoulders department
BTW are you going on the tweed ride?
