  • This ride is definitely on this Sunday 18 January.

    9:30 Smithfield

    10:30 Roehampton Gate.

It will be more organised. No one will get lost!

  • What if I come along. I put money on someone getting lost if I'm there. ;)

  • What time is this likely to finish?

Am v interested in coming along, but have some things to do Sunday evening...

  • Should be back at RP by around 3:00 pm. Depends how lost you get really ;o)

  • If I'm not going for a ride with my brother on Sunday, I may join you for this. Would be a good chance to meet a few people.
It will be the longest distance I've done, so as long as that won't be a problem. I don't know what sort of pace I can keep up really but would like to start doing a few longer rides this year. A change from my commute..

  • am up for it, assuming i dont need gears.

  • James, you'll be fine without gears - I've done it a couple of time without but will be using them this Sunday.

  • I might come along for this if my legs aren't wrecked from Saturdays cycling

  • weather forecast is for rain and temps of 4 degrees, will check again in the morning before making a decision as to stay in bed or come out for a jaunt

  • i'll try to make it but no promises . . .

  • James - you are riding.

    See you all there.

  • Clive, Wayne is talking about an earlier and shorter ride - 40 miles starting at 09:30. I'm going to do this as I'd prefer to start & finish earlier.

Have a good ride and see you next time.

  • OK - have a good one.

  • clive i'm thinking of heading for a shorter and hillier ride. have work to do this afternoon.
    enjoy the wind.

  • Todays weather report from RP is that it that is has stopped raining , the sun is just about out with some light cloud. Winds are variable with some stronger gusts at times. The roads are still damp so be careful out there.

Enjoy your ride and tune in next weekend to LFGSS RP Morning weather report.

  • Beautiful weather. Lovely wind to blow us home. Pity about the one buckled wheel and my snapped saddle bolt which meant that I rode about 13 miles from Lower Sunbury standing out of the saddle before I could hail a cab on the King's Road. Despite these set backs, a pleasant and social ride.

  • I found some more hills in the Chilterns.. 110 or 125k I'm not sure as the PT is being a bit spazzy.
I'm happy since it appears I've not dropped too much wattage since June.

  • That doesn't sound good. Were there a lot of potholes then? Hidden under all the puddles.

Sorry about the double no-show, I just can't seem to get my knee working again. Think I need to not even touch my bike for a week, but that pretty much means I'm stranded!

  • Pothole on a speed bump coupled with a lardy rider. Mind you, the bolt survived the cobbles of the Paris-Roubaix and so it should manage Lower Sunbury.

Sorry about your knee. Mend it quickly. Kingspin in less than a fortnight.

  • Thanks for a really good ride, ideal number until the near end! Rob, I hope your wheel is not too wobbly. I hear you initiated your new tights also. Cliveo seat pins are not normally part of the general toolkit, unless you have a nice yellow Mavic car following you! I hope you made it back ok in the end, and I look forward to the next.

Urrrr ... sounds painful! My sympathies. I once had to ride home standing up when some waster nicked my saddle and seatpost. Not nice.

The straw that broke the camel's back springs to mind.

  • Great ride all, very good fun and i made it to the cafe and back without any wrong turns!

  • glad you had a good n guys. wanted to join this after talking to Claus on wednesday but forgot that returning a rental van this morning would screw me timewise. no way could i get from dalston to RP in 30 mins.

clintsmoker and i went out into the Essex lanes instead. bit blowy out there today but a lovely day for riding with that bright sun and clear skies.
