i am probably going to go front disk aswell. does it make a huge difference using a rear disk caliper on the front?
Oh yeah Luca, massive difference alright. Definitely. You shouldnt do it.
But, its your lucky day. It just so happens I have an unused front caliper for sale.

'rear' disc caliper? cable disc calipers are all Front or Rear AFAIK.
-
• #7507
More a question of rotor size isn't it?

My polo frame is clear powder coated. no rust problems. Its just like normal paint but clear.

Yes, yes. The two calipers I have look the exact same.
My "massive difference alright Luca" remark was a piss take.Just that the mounting thing (? - apologies) for the frame is a different size, for front and rear.

Did you lay that ^ out Kev?
OCD or what?joni i think its worth spending the money on a bike you'll ride for some time. Knowing your habits i would say this is not you.
I think I've finally found the one though, assuming the alterations work.
Could all go tits up though, then I'd have to buy a new one.
What are you anyway, my wife? ;) -

I think Joni's bike is getting a nip and a tuck
I see. The cheap and dirty option is to sand the affected areas and then apply primer - you can get it from car shops, then get it painted when you can afford it.
It's really heavy paint, she's trying to slim the bike down a bit.

Primer is porous so the frame will rust underneath the paint then start bubbling a few months/weeks down the line. Rattle cans are cheap enough. Give it a going over with one then when you can afford to or have chosen on colour take it in and get it coated. They blast all the old paint anyway, if they didn't it could react.

nope - a steel kona frame. its no different to getting it painted.

Yes. It's a beautiful thing.

But painting needs a primer as does clear coating apparently, according to Vaz.
I've just realised, there is another option...
-
• #7521
that's not an option, that's a travesty
-

They don't prime with powder coating, they bead blast to bare metal and then put the powder on, and a clear powder coat is just that, its not a laquer.

Just chucked a 38c Nimbus on the back, rolls way better than a 35c M+... Will just have to see how long it lasts now...

^ Does it not rub against the chainstay? I had to change my 38c to a 35c on my pomp. You have a pomp right? Is your wheel at the very end of the dropout and very true?
