  • What about a Kona P2 fork? they come in 1" not sure if they're threaded but guess you could get the thread cut at a bike shop

They only come unthreaded I believe.

26" only (700 available but only on production models I believe).

1" used to be made. Pretty rare though I believe.

  • One of the most fun bikes I've ever ridden was an old Allin grass polo bike at HH... Would love one of those set up for hardcourt... Ah, the fun we had on Good Friday, look at Prav's face... :]

    best spring ever!

  • Indian spring... :]

  • Can anyone shed any light on my Q's on the last page RE: possible problems with a Voodoo Boxor?

I think that might be too big
You should try find something at around 56cm effective TT

  • I think you're right Cedric. I have more or less come to that conclusion.

I did a bike cad though!

  • how big is your bruiser?

  • Tim I just realised I was supposed to text you, went to go see Stephen Fry at apple store. Have you thought about a Marino custom build? I think the manchester guys (?) have dealt with them, seem really good value. I will send you an FB message now.

    javascript:popupDetails('http://www.benscycle.net/specs/bmx54.jpg')

  • Ive also realised that one of the main problems with my current bike is the trail.

    It calculates at around 70mm.

  • that sounds ok, I thought people are aiming at 65mm

  • I'm out of touch.

  • I'll try reaching further

  • Ha!

    I'll try reaching further

  • here's what I'm having built, based purely on guesswork, forum mutterings, wikipedia, sheldon brown and ste's frame, hopefully it'll turn out ok. Also he's doing forks if that's what your after and they are cheap, can wait until mine arrive to see if they're good. Should hopefully have everything by Cambridge

  • You ninja-ed this!

  • say wha?

  • @ adam. Its to do with equestrian polo. 10 goal is your rating as a player, determined by the amount of games and how difficult they were, bit like a golf handicap.

  • Where can I get a fork made to my spec and does anyone know what sort of money I'd be looking at?

I'm happy to adjust axle crown length but I can't find any straight mtb forks with an 1" threaded steerer.

Given you're running quite slim tyres, you might fit a 26" wheel with a skinny tyre into a 24" MTB fork. 26" rim == 559mm diameter, 24" rim = 507mm diameter.

For a 1.5" slick you'll probably need 40mm+ between the rim and the fork., so that's 320mm from skewer to tread.

  • Front brake wont work since he is running dual brakes, no? Brazing on new mounts would be a solution, but that might be another hassle by itself.

  • A roadie drop caliper might still work.

  • v-brakes FTW, calipers sucks...

    #justsaying

  • Been fucking about with Illustrator for a few hours. Finished with 5mm less BB clearance but a 74deg HT and the magical 64mm rake. I'm happy to change the dropouts, so that might happen soon

10 goal refers to the highest possible handicap awarded in horse polo. According to the interwebs, there are less than a dozen 10 goal players currently active, and the highest UK-based handicap is 8.

The bike doesn't really look suitable for grass but, hey!

  • Just had a little go on that Pearson 'polo' bike... Obv the gearing was way too high and the headtube angle meant the fork jack-knifed a bit too easily but it felt fine... Not too heavy, so easy to bounce about... You could possibly squeeze a 35 in the back but doubt you'd get much more than a 25 in that fork...

Just a concept bike but if people gave them some constructive feedback maybe they'd do a small production run? Nice guys in the shop...

  • TS did you call ahead? might check it out tomorrow/or at the weekend...
