Also, people who have 135 forks (retards) and have a 'spare' freewheel on there, it's dangerous having the freewheel mounted on the side of your front wheel.
Milwaukee did this a while back and it really puzzled me, how often does the freewheel fail? Also IF the freewheel did fail and you whacked it on the front you would still need another rear to replace the busted one. Am I missing something??

^And if you were just worried about busted freewheels...carry a spare freewheel and swap it out or are they doing this in case it fails in games and you can do a quick switcheroo? Confused
-
• #6129
You have a freewheel fitted on the front, and swap to with the rear. Rear is then used at front. Confusion?
-
• #6130
See, you're confused because its a stupid and pointless idea.
-
• #6131
Being able to swap out a freewheel by switching front and rear wheels is really lame. Really really lame.
Being able to carry one spare wheel for front/back if either spontaneously combusts is marginally better, but still essentially lame, really lame.

• #6132
it's for people who take a spare wheel for tourneys
ie. you only need to take a spare rear wheel to cover all eventualities
-
• #6133
why is this a stupid or lame idea?!
it's actually really useful, if you are going to bring a spare wheel to a tournament -
• #6134
on the other hand, i have seen the dodici polo bike, and the fork looks really retarded

When was the last time you saw someone bring a spare wheel to a tournament?
-
• #6136
if you need to take a spare wheel to tourneys, there's something really wrong with how you play.

Lausanne.
I would defintley take a spare wheel to tournaments if I :
was driving
had a spare wheel -

its not about how you play, its about the player who dick moves you and bends your wheel
-
• #6139
why is this a stupid or lame idea?!
Dished front wheel, additional weight for front wheel, additional weight for fork, expense in buying more freewheels, no easy fork replacement (for your preferred wheel) if your fork fails, moves towards a proprietary setup under the guise of "improving standards", potentially dangerous/simply unnecessary protrusions on bike, requires the same tyre type/size for front/back wheels to work effectively, more (uneven) force applied to front axle so it has to be stronger, looks lame, etc.
-
• #6140
wheel doesn't have to be dished, weight increase is at the centre so no real gain in rotational weight, buy the same fork again if it fails?!, rear wheels aren't propriety, polo bikes look ugly anyway, running different tyre sizes front and rear is stupid anyway (see emmet for details). i'm afraid i don't understand your uneven force argument?...
-
• #6141
What I meant from my question was are the forks 135 that actually come with the bike or are they suggesting you could also buy separate forks that are 135 if you wanted to. It's just unclear wording.
-
• #6142
I'm getting that bike I think, minus the forks.
annoyed by the 135mm rear spacing though. Means I need to build a new rear wheel. However correct me if I'm wrong but since I'll get a MTB hub surely I can put two sprockets so I can run a polo gear and a commuting gear? chainline issues? -
• #6143
/\
standard mtb hub will let you run upto a 10 speed cassette if you wanted but will be dished, a decent hope trials hub will let you run upto 6 sprockets without the need for dishing the wheel. yes, you can run two speeds without a problem on both types of hubs. -

polo bikes look ugly anyway, ...
how dare you!!!! Just look at this beauty.
-
• #6145
Yes but how much is it! ^^
Not had a reply yet.

if you have to ask, you can't afford it.

well i can hardly argue. But only with you, possibly todd too.

• #6149
Not the little red fire truck (in it's heyday)?
-

The majority of wheels will need to be dished, weight increase affects handling and fatigue for polo regardless of meagre rotational differences, buying the same fork again means you're locked in to one "solution", the fork is attempting to be propriety, polo bikes are beautiful, what about running different treads/tyre thicknesses/etc?
Fixed.
