front or rear? 4h = 48h? could be interested. Do halo wheels have breaking surfaces?

Just bought a 36h Sputnik for my SRAM hub gear... Was talking to Josh about the possibility of putting together a super cheapo gear changing system using a long barrel adjuster right down near the hub (or something)... The idea being that you run your 3-speed as a 2-speed, polo gear and a +33% gear... Sound feasible? Not ideal but would reduce cable clutter and seems like a pleasingly ghetto solution...
-
• #4886
Except if you aim for 40gi polo gear then +33% = 53gi which is still a bit spinny. +50% would be better.
Still guess 53gi is better than polo gear.

I'll probably wind up getting a grip shift but thought I'd throw this out there and see if anyone had any cunning ideas... 53GI is fine compared to 39GI... Gah!
-
• #4888
you could just use the top and bottom gears... 39 to around 70, perfect no?
(asusming the ussual 3/4 - 1 4/3 ratios) -

Could you mount the gripshift on the seatpost? If you put it right up the top it may be out of the way enough not to interfere with your legs. As I understand you don't need the shifter available during games.

Stop being a tit and just put the shifter on your bars

Was looking at getting v-brakes fitted but I don't have mounts, are these for the back http://www.winstanleysbikes.co.uk/product/36127/DMR_VBrake_APS_Mounts and do I need anything else? £10 seems quite cheap.
What about the front? Do I need what is a little bit further up the page? I've looked at prices and this looks like it could add up. Would it just be better value and easier to have them welded on?

I have a rear brake plate you can have for a tenner:

Long answer yes.
You could mount the shifter on your seatpost is your seatpost was a 22.2 diameter, but that size i believe is reserved for the shittest of the shit kids bikes and nothing else.Short answer no.

Sandy there's a whole bit <<< somewhere about v brake mounts. Rik had some good advice about the makeshift brake bridge you probably need to do for this also. If you don't have a fork with bosses, pay Ryan some money to get them welded, or see what snoops posted ^ for fork mounts but you need the right size forks. Would probably be easier to get some new forks with the bosses.

What about the front?
Re: front... What Joni said... You can have it anytime after today, I've also got a spare V-brake (just arms, no pads or noodle) that I'll chuck in for another fiver...
