  • Awesome, thanks gabes.

    Lower gearing here I come!

  • Never seen that but thats exactly what I was doing. The only problems are that I can already tell it is gonna move my chainline out, maybe this isn't such an issue on mountain bikes.

  • Rik had Saint cranks (and external bb) on his plug, anyone know how did he got the chainline right?

  • with spacers if I remember correctly

  • I need to make a double lever but still haven't got my tools, who can help? I've got three Shimano levers knocking about, 2 left and 1 right... Sort me out and you can keep the others or mod them and then sell them on...

  • Rik - Thanks

Joe - Is it just drilling you need done? Link me to the levers you have and I'll see if my method of modding will work.

  • rik, nob off

IDoNothing, cheers, that first sentence explains it all

  • Joe - Is it just drilling you need done? Link me to the levers you have and I'll see if my method of modding will work.

I'm not sure, Ed, but here are the levers I've got...

Got a set of DX V-brakes for super cheap with both levers...

  • Welcome to come round to Rusty Towers Joe. I've made a few doublers. Assume you've bought the Odyssey Mod?

  • I can probably do it using the top one if you want.

    Materials I'll need:

    1x lever
2x the little metal cage which holds the cable end and pivots (I'll take a photo of these when I get home as I'm not sure of the name).
    1x Odyssey London Mod
1x Machine screw to attach London Mod to lever end (where the barrel adjuster used to be), not sure what size you'll need but my lever used M7.

My method will give you super smooth braking so no hand strain, the only disadvantage is it's a bit of a pain to find the pivoting metal cages (I had to trash a brand new lever to get an additional one).

  • Cheers, Ed... Just ordered a London mod... I'll hit you up nearer the time or I may even have figured it out myself by then... :]

  • I just used a bolt for the cable stop part. Tricky to drill holes in without a vice though.
And any size screw works if you have a bolt on the inside.
File a bit out of the mod (with it turned the other way) and it will fit more snug on the lever.

  • Joe - I forgot to take photos but hopefully you can see the bits I'm talking about in this diagram

I'll need 2 of the above components.

  • I have a pair of SD levers you can butcher, 8 quid for the pair? Can bring it over to NE poo tonight if you get your mallet done up :)

  • It's not for me, I already have a silky smooth double brake. Old man 'Slain might need them though.

  • NE poo? Things have changed...

  • Staying on the subject of BMX cranks, im looking at upgrading myself, but im a shallow kinda guy, and dont have a massive budget, so basically are Gussett ok budget Cranks?

Ideally want something that comes in 165/160 length, any other cheap BMX cranks ive missed?

  • running gussett's here. no problems.

  • i think mine are 170. they do the job.

  • Cool, it seems all other BMX cranks that come in wonky sizes cost mad dollar bruv (innit)

    Hows tings t'up norf dude?

  • sweet! been great so far at least. you can walk from my house to the moors, but riding there is best.

  • not sure about the local polo-ists... shifty eyes

    :P

  • pm sent to matt

  • Does anyone make mallets out of golf clubs these days?

It looks like one of my neighbours is throwing a bunch of clubs out. I'll snag them if anyone wants them.

  • they'll be a touch heavy, i think
