  • glued lol
    just an alan frame..
quite like the alan frames look

if I remember correctly, Alans frames should be sent to fabric every 6 years for a re-glued
polo will test the consisntent of the actual glue, dont you worry

Love alan frames! Joe ride a gazelle cross frame.

    good call

isn't the Pompino (most recommended bike in london polo) geared at the cyclocross crowd 1st and foremost?!

+15 (pomps been use for polo in UK)

hah Serves me right for being cocky =)

but your glued remark made me do a google on alan frames yet no real results showed up.. the allmight TFS mostly showed alan frames for sale, wikipedia didnt help either.. Serves me right for being cocky =)

so any info on this.? Cause i'm quite sure this bike hasnt been reglued in the last.. wel never prolly..

  • The aluminium used on Alans is quite soft, someone I spoke to on a bridges ride ages ago said he had to bend his forks back in to position when he hit potholes.

  • Cheers Ali. I have a chain whip/lockring tool if that's all that'sneed? Where are you based?

I have one if you still need it but it's stuck on my hub, it's yours if you can get it off

btw, you two are playing each other in the first game.

  • Ah, thought it was too good to be true.

as long as they bend back i dont see a problem ! :)

no srsly, i cant imagine a cyclocross frame not being able to withstand a pothole.. Intense polo action is a different matter, but we'll see..

I live in Hackney but you can get when we play first game if you can wait til then, we may need to try and rotafix (never done it before) cos I have had a few strong blokes have a go at it.

Send me a pm if you wanna collect before the fixture

    Just do this:

    in reverse

  • So,talking of Pomp's, how does one deal with 130mm dropouts when your axel is 120 if I don't want to cold set it and I do want to have a decent chain line but don't want to buy a miche adjustable BB?

  • getting a new axel and some spacers

  • Thanks Chief. Sounds fun.

Any tips from other Pomper's on where to get an axle would be awesome.

  • Or just spacers if your axle is already long enough...

  • It's 120 sadly. Cheap eBay wheel.

    Cheers luv.

  • must be longer than 120, otherwise it wouldn't be long enough for regular 120 spaced dropouts

  • Ha, yep, 120 + room for nuts. It's a 'standard' axle for 120 dropouts so need to cold set the frame which I don't want to do.
Off to the mechanics I think.

  • Just try putting 5mm worth of spacers on each side and give it a go. You may have enough thread...

  • if the axle isn't long enough, just put in the hub and tighten the bolts down, 10mm isn't that much and the frame not going to snap or anything!

or for £10 but a new axel, longer that the one you have, change cones and the spacers, put some more spacers an presto....

Unless you're buying the new Pompetamine with 135 rear spacing, the current Pompino does have 120 rear spacing.
