yeah couldnt think of and advantage to riding a suspension fork but since its on there, was wondering if it would really be a disadvantage.. And i'm trying to keep it low budget as possible, so wouldnt want to be replacing anyhting soon. Unless you know some really cheap forks..?
thx anyway !

It's a disadvantage because you loose lots of your energy that you are putting into acceleration

Getting brake mounts brazed on to my forks soon. Are there any disadvantages to having them on the back of the forks?
-
• #3511
Have you seen Gabes' bolt-on V-brake mounts? £20 I think he said... That's cheaper than getting the forks brazed, no?
-
• #3512
£30 I thought ? And they're for a specific size and round forks.
There needs to be more of these made! -

only issue will be if you enough clearenace between forks and frame, otherwise they will work the same
-
• #3514
Ed, as far as I'm aware it makes no difference, just have to make sure your cable and brake will clear the frame... the cable's pretty easy-ish to sort and you'd need a fairly odd frame for v-brakes to collide with it?

there are only advantages to having them on the back of the fork. having them on the back means the rotational resistance of the brake against the rim pulls the brake posts inwards, against the brakes themselves, you get better braking. On the front, the braking forces would make the posts splay outwards, reducing the effectiveness of the brake.

Joe - Did a trade with Ryan so cost isn't an issue
Gabes - Cheers, didn't think there were any disadvantages but thought I should just check.

I already ride an mtb with rigid forks but they have a fair rake on them. Most DJ forks still have rake.

ok, after having a decent look at it i realised i would be sitting way to low on a bike like this. These bikes arent made to sit on but made to be riding standing most of the time, rite.?
But i found something better..
Its an old cyclocross bike..How come old cyclocross bikes dont get recommended more in the polo section.?
In my opinion theyre perfect; racing frame geometry (in comparison to MTB), V-brakes and room for bigger wheelsets..Or am i missing something.?

no, you have miss anything.
CX bikes as been recomended here before, by Aidan Turd and myself
if I will have to say something about that one in particular, the lugs look to be glued together.... it could be interesting -

why?
-bigger clearance between wheels
+stronger frame, but is this necessary??

isn't the Pompino (most recommended bike in london polo) geared at the cyclocross crowd 1st and foremost?!
Can't really say without knowing how tall you are, but no reason you can't put a longer seatpost in.
Like Jono says, the angles look a bit slack, and I can't think of any advantage to riding a suspension fork for hardcourt polo. If you were to fit a rigid fork, with a shorter axle-to-crown measurement, you'd effectively steepen the frame angles, and also shorten the BB gap between the wheels a little bit too.
