  • anyone considering the BLB trick frame for polo should note the toros looked incredibly uncomfortable playing on theirs, and the handling and geometry looked really bad

it seems that it's enough to change the fork

  • did you actually ask them though josh? they did pretty well, they were no slouches.

  • Pablo havent play polo in 7 months, then in the frist day back in Munich he hurt his knee and has another month and half no playing.
Eddy, brake his collar bone just 2 montha ago
Toros has a team havent play together in the past 2-3 months....
    they make 5th or 6th
are you sure is because of the bikes?

  • i didn't say they didn't do well due the bikes, i just said they didn't look very comfortable on them

  • you look really comfy on yours josh, sometimes, i can imagine you drinking tea from a saucer and munching cake while your riding.

  • My polo bike. Have changed the chain ring to 39 so now its 21-39 fixed. Not the best gear but i cant afford new cranks and cant find a bigger sproket. Although I hear there are some 24ts out there somewhere. Swapping flats for risers and will soon be making disc for front. All pretty good although there is acres of toeverlap so thinking of maybe running a 650 or finding forks with a bigger rake.

Suggestions, comments welcome :) Only been playing for about 3 months

  • Instead of changing the forks or wheel you would be better off getting shorter cranks.

This way you could also improve your gearing without searching for larger cogs (which might risk stripping the thread on your hub).

Also I would advise that you get a brake. The faster you can stop, the faster you can go.

Yup, fitting the rear brake when i get the new risers, bars are oversize so wont fit the levers I have. Thanks for the crank advice, what do you think 155?

    ALSO!!!!!
Brighton bike polo thursdays and sundays for anyone who wants to come play by the sea. Throw ins beers and fun here

wtf? can you not put a cog on correctly?

well according to hassan it's a ladies bike, so maybe that has something to do with it

Shorter cranks help in terms of ground clearance when turning, but aren't the whole story... With shorter cranks comes less leverage, thus making it harder to push a given gear, so you'll want to gear down a bit. But then you'll be spinning like a loon once you get going - it's all swings and roundabouts...
On the upside, changing your cranks will mean you can move away from the 130mm BCD ones you've got at the moment to a smaller BCD and therefore open up more choice of smaller chainrings, thus allowing lower gears without having to find rear sprockets the size of dinner plates...

  • @ josh, you should ride it side saddle then, shouldnt you?

Do you not understand basic physics?

Seems like a gimmick to me, I can only assume that it's so you can use the front wheel as a spare for the rear if you break it. Seems redundant as you'd still only have one working wheel.

  • innit, aside from the fact you would then have an exposed cog on the front of your bike.

  • Isn't that how the old polo frames from yesteryear were built? Front and rear spacing was the same to make it easier to grab wheels off people in an emergency

  • It still doesn't account for gearing choices, tyre widths or anything else though.

Surely just having a properly maintained polo bike with reasonable spares for tournaments would make more sense?

  • Safety precautions for throw-ins.

  • Four wheel dr... I mean two wheel drive?!

Otherwise the only thing it's useful for is Incase you strip the threads which seams less likely than chainsawing someones leg with the exposed cog!

  • So basically a less effective version of a flipflop hub?

  • but you can pin your kevlar discs real well.

  • Do you reckon Doug ganked the idea from seeing Recep's front disk and wrongly interpretting it?

  • Do you not understand basic physics?
    probably not

  • Spinning like a loon ftw
