1 hour? bummer!
considering how me and fin played last week, and our limited amount of practice as a team, i seriously fear the stabbath being beaten by the b team at the london open!
i probably won't get there til 6.30 this week - it's my day off and we never really have enough for a game til 7 anyway...

Ben/Chris,
I have a new name for B team - Black Stabbath, I hear due to infighting and general bordom of spectators the original have disbanded. Figure we just show up in there kit! -

^ black stabbath's best supporters!
weather is looking dodgy, but met-office says dry, so i'll go with that. keep the faith!

shamim - i've got a mallet for you, a bit rickety, but functional...

fucking weather - met office says it's dry despite the fact it is ACTUALLY RAINING, albeit slightly. i'm still coming though - be there 6.30, but i don't have a ball.

I'll be there with your ball + spare mallett, 6.30

a real shame what happened tonight, i think we've probably been a bit too trusting with the local youth. unfortunately i think the best we can do is learn from it and try not to come to polo with anything valuable (i had £100 in my wallet, which i suddenly became very worried about!) and if we do always keep the bags in goal, not in those dugout things. if they do come on the pitch and crowd us out again, we should all know where we need to look and tell them not to touch our stuff.
we should continue to be nice to the little kids, but kind of ignore the teenagers when they invade the pitch. it would really help if people were a little more organised at the start of games/shuffles too as it's always these hiatuses when punks try to cause trouble; this was invariably when shit happened at the old court, too. disrespectful and ignorant cunts they may be, but they have some urge of self-preservation and see that it may be a bit dangerous to be on the court with 6 speeding bikes.
on a (kind of) separate note, can everyone try to stick to a rough start time? i don't want to get all nazi about punctuality, but in recent weeks it's been really disorganised, to the point where we aren't getting many decent games. if people want to change the start time, let's discuss it. also, the more of us there are at the court at once, the less likely gangs of yoots will try any more shit.

wtf happened?

kids nicked dan's phone from his bag. not much that could be done as they're kids, and i for one am a pussy anyway.

that's screwed up, hope they don't make a habit of it, it's a great court if you could eliminate all human life in a 50m radius.
I'd be happy to attempt the above.
/50 metres, not 50 miles, don't tempt me.

that was my immediate reaction too, but the sad thing is that these punks are actually a minority. we've never had serious trouble there before, but this could easily prove to be the thin end of the wedge. i'm no defender of highgate, but we do see some pleasant, community minded people around there too...

you only have to put one head on a stick and the rest will get the message, or just play some of your jazz on the boombox
I can just picture the Evening Mail headline...
SICK 'STABBATH' BIKER GANG IN CITY JAZZ TERROR

I saw that kid in the dugout and then leg it out fast, glad I said something. if we do have stuff I guess try keep it all in 1 dugout?? its the school summer holidays now so i'm assuming they'll be kids (good and/or bad) around for a while. timewise I can be there 7pm usually (when I play). a friend got glassed at a gig tonight too. its been a strange night.

glassed? where at? shit like this really puts me on (even more of a) birmingham-downer. kind of glad i don't go out in town anymore.
just play some of your jazz on the boombox.
that may not be such a bad idea you know. didn't some newsagents start playing classical music outside their doors because the feral youth of today actually prefer silence to anything so unfashionable? the answer is clear: less grime, more trumpets....

Just got up to speed on this. Bad news Dan.
Living so close to the courts, I'm not too quick to defend the little fuckers that live around that way. I ride and run past that way most days, at different times - and these summer holidays will only bring more "yoot" issues.
Rode back Monday evening to see kids hiding behind cars, and launching small rocks into cars as they passed... there's just no respect.
To quote our neighbours in London (when referring to their own place of residence):
"This is Birmingham my friend" . -

it was at scruffys by a random guy upstairs while the gig was on downstairs. I wasnt there but they all said he was high/wasted and was being racist, so my friend squared up to him and the random guy flipped out. He's gonna be ok, cut open his forehead in a couple of places and had to go to hospital to get shards of glass out of it. still crazy though.

Jaco Pastorious, Charles Minkus and Heavy Weather please. I can post at work!

shit, i'd really better get yours and shamim's names right!
@ben - it may be a good idea not to bring your boombox for a while. i can see that being the next point of contention. totally up to you though; may be a good way to get into that third career fight...

I've made the assumption that kids will be around over the summer but I don't think this is a fair assumption (at the moment) as most of the kids I have met are friendly/nice and/or curious about polo. Also its where they live, they're letting us play there. I guess be aware about where your stuff is but not 'paint them all with the same brush' (whatever the saying is).
Anyone up for a sunday session?

To be fair to the kids, they are just a product of their environment. They live in a shithole with no money and little future, you can't blame them for nicking stuff. I'll keep bringing the boombox, it's a lot more obvious if they mess about with it.
Bike is kinda done, will see if I can get there.
