Theres just nothing you can really do with them, they are the same kids that have been fine until this point but their not stupid, just taking advantage of an opertunity.
I will not be letting them ride my bike again, and I will not brake if I find them in front of me!
My distrust of kids is renewed. I will be off the mobile phone grid for a while...

@mastershredder. Don't get me wrong, I work with kids. But living so close to those courts I'm just saying that there is soooo much damage done to cars by local youth. It's notorious.

its where they live, they're letting us play there.
strongly disagree with this. it's our park as much as it is theirs. if they came to kings heath/stirchley parks, would we be 'letting them play', would we be within our rights to turf them off or nick their shit? point is, they mugged us, they are in the wrong, not us. we showed them a miniscule amount of trust and they exploited it. cunts. i won't be extending any more civilities to them.
i partly agree with ben about the 'product of their enviroment' shit, but they are not drones. they decide what they do.
worst thing is, we can expect more of this shit. any more crap happens, i'm calling the police.

I've been meaning to and haven't really been doing it but I'm up for just coming along and hanging out more, it's fun to watch polo and I can sit with your stuff, my bird's usually at her weightlifting thing on a Wednesday anyway... so yeah, I'll try and be there more.
Kids are way down there with cats on my shitlist.

i hate kids, be they inner-city hood or suburban ponce...
JUST PLAY POLO VOID - we need players, and it's such fun!

I'm close... been scavenging around at the Uni looking for yellow pipe, they have some building going on, keeping my eyes open in general for the stuff, used to be everywhere...
My prototype polo bike (in my head) is awesome, one-sided bars, multiple mallet heads attached to the axle swinging around like a street sweeper, anti-child lasers and a boombox pumping out motherfucking ELECTRIC WIZARD

I see what you're saying and i think i didnt convey what i was trying to say very well. I meant like if thats just what they have in terms of opportunities/facilities for outdoor 'recreation' then we should be remember that. Maybe I thought about this too much, it made sense in my head...
putting this into perspective for any future players on here-this is the 1st incident (that I know of) in (possibly) 100s of sessions at highgate.

agreed - despite all my whining, it hasn't been at all bad at highgate... i get particularly livid when something happens because our situation is so precarious though, with only two suitable courts!

There's another court on Clark St, right outside Edgbaston reservoir.

There are probably loads of possible courts we're just to lazy to look/ride any further on tiny polo bike gears - Highgate is an awesome central location.

Agreed its one small incident which happened partly due to my missguided trust in youth on one of the best courts I've played on even in tournements. So as all this negative chatter originated from me partly lets move it on, I have an upgrade due in a couple of weeks so I will survive a couple of weeks the old fashioned way by sitting in the same place, in the same pub every night of the week.
So new polo players needed... We should aim to target a few leaflets around uni's at the end of september and maybe try and hand some more flyers out on up and coming bike events. Hows that blog coming ben?

i've google-earthed and recce'd almost all of south birmingham, although the edgbaston court is the one i haven't tried. everything i've been to has signigicant problems: big gaps in/under the fencing, basketball nets right where we would be playing, no barriers, no floodlights etc. without a doubt, highgate is our best court and calthorpe is okay for winter/evening use. i think all of us actually go out of our way to get to highgate though - if only there was somewhere in kings heath it would be central-ish for us all...
@dan_lj - got your brake lever in at work today, will try to sort you some barrell adjusters. also have another for stock, so if anyone else wants to join the double-brake brigade, come in - £14 for the lever.
back on track - sunday game anyone? i can't be bothered if there's less than 4.

looks okay to me - probably a bit too small for you/
this: http://www.singletrackworld.com/forum/topic/fs-retro-kona-cinder-cone-ss
is an absolute bargain, though. you could keep/sell all the bits and end up with a free frame and forks for polo!

yeah, but seems straightforward and you have access to a workshop! i think he's just being overly critical, and with the quality of parts on there, it's actually *worth *doing.
