Used to hear this at early parties:

Nope - northern lad but moved to london around that time peckham. All came from Ibiza holidaying / living '86/'87 with hippy parents. Never got to shoom (think it had closed) but spectrum - yes! Wasn't all football boys but remember them well. My initial user name was going to be acid ted. Nice call on Mandy Smith - so to complete the pack i give you:
: )

Surprised no Pierre yet? F***ing love this track

8ball - '89 would be the second 'summer of love' - I guess you saw Future on tour? the club at Craven st closed when spectrum opened in '88 - I did some of M25 parties in '89 and they were fucking 'nuts' - it was huge - and the OB were clueless - after the Marchioness disaster in '89 they really started to clamp down - I could never really figure what a boat crashing into a bridge had to do with illegal house parties but that was the catalyst - good call on DJ Piere - know this one ? YouTube - Jolly Roger - Acid Man (stereo)

Future at Heaven under the Arches - Thursday nights? Oakenfold and Terry Farley (from memory)? Dunno if the same Future you mean? Oh yeah - Acid Man was by 'Evil' Eddie Richards, used to do Outer Limits in Bletchley, Milton Keynes - that was an amazing club.

The only other one I can remember was 'dance with the devil' but I can't remember who it was by and the also from Future they used to play Prince and little red corvette but that is too awful to post. So you was going to Amnesia in Ibiza and listening to Alfredo play - cool dude - I knew you was there because no one knows those tunes. I was a courier and my controller Johnny Mclaughlin was Millwall firm. He invited me and Aubrey Bailey another courier, sociopath and well known around Highbury as 'dodgy bins' down to Future. I did Future, Shoom, Spectrum and Clink st in that order and then it was the time of the Acid Teds and I drifted away and started going to Shaka Dance instead. Shoom was the one that everyone talks about but Shoom was really cliquey and really hard to get in. It was a great club because of Danny Rampling but getting past Jenny on the door was hard work. The last time I went it was full of 'trendies' and I much preferred the football/Ibiza crowd to be honest. Remember the Spectrum all dayers? "on one all day, can you pass the all day test"? comin out into Villiers street the crowd whooping and chearing - never experienced anything before or since quite like that! it was a special time

Craven Street behind Heaven you got your years muddled up ;) it ran from autumn of 87 to the spring of 88 when Spectrum opened up under the arches at Heaven - Oakenfold, Farley, Alfredo, Nancy Noise and Trevor Fung - were you football 8ball?

Quite possibly!! Must have been Spectrum I was at! Good times anyway! Did you do any of the Edit Block or Release parties? Pushca?
-
• #162
I very vaguely remember Pushca - by '89 it was getting a bit messy - this was the year of the M25 parties - I was involved in filming one BUT we got busted by the OB - it started to get a bit heavy - plus it wasn't just 'firm' puntiing out e's but proper gangsters - in the beginning it was all about peace & love - and all this stuff was seriously unchill - so I started to do Shaka dance instead - YouTube - THE MIGHTY JAH SHAKA - AT THE ROCKET LONDON(1990s)
look for the geezer with a big doobie behind his ear and thats me that is ;) got to go to bed now - happy new year you lot - this little chat has brought back so many happy memories - can't quite believe there was a couple of boys on here from Spectrum - more tunes tomorrow as we have barely scraped the suface -

And to think 'I Just Can't Wait' by Mandy Smith was produced by that tit Pete Waterman!
Robert Owens has an amazing voice but the real praise should go the the legend that is Larry Heard. Awesome producer and ALL of his records can still be played today with great effect
Robert Owens, Chicago house legend, voice of an angel - now lives in Romford! How the mighty have fallen!?!
