What I don't understand about teams sacking managers is why they do it without a clear "upgrade" in mind (see palace arsing about for ages before settling on Pulis). Surely if you're going to get rid, you need to make sure you've got a viable candidate as a replacement to improve your situation.

Like Derby with McClaren, for example.

Hhhmmmmm not sure what to make about the Clarke sacking. He didn't do enough for me to feel sad and yet I don't see the point in sacking him. We are where we are. We could finish eight but we could fluctuate. Better players are better because of their ability to perform week in week out and grasp the mental toughness of consistency. We can afford good technical players who just can hold it together for more than five games. This is the world we operate in and no new manager is going to push us higher for longer. but Peace is a ruthless operator and fair play to him for not settling for second best.
I would love the return of RDM because of the style we played in. Surely he learnt something as well since the and the squad is stronger. Always was the coolest manager in the game. -

@corny. Recall the opening six games of the season and we were really annoyed with Clarke because of the lacklustre shit that we put out. Then after transfer deadline day we went on a great run. It's a fickle old game though. We draw against Chelsea and villa but play well the a. Couple of defeats from mediocre performances and he's out.

^^^ it's true though. Our big wigs had already made contact with SM when they sacked Clough. We've won 7 of our 9 games with him in charge including winning out last 6. We have had better passing stats than Barca recently too.
I liked Clough, but a change was needed and McClarens tactical nous has really been the difference this season.

From Baggies fans thoughts, it seems as they need a tactician to make the most of what they have. Not sure RDM is the right man for the job.

Hasn't Lambert being paying attention? Fergies left, its open season, even the Baggies have stuck one on them. But no, they roll over ever dutifully.

Ru, how is year two of the Lambert revolution going. Seems like they are back to the relegation form that had them in such dire straits last season without the excuse of falling back on the fact that he'd blooded a lot of youngsters.
The young 'uns have a season under their belts and I'm not sure they've kicked on sufficiently to keep the relegation scrap at bay. Feels like villa are one long term injury to benteke away from dropping points left right and centre.. -

Peace always has a succession plan In place and rarely fumbles around in the dark. Clarke pushed for more money to be spent and got it, now he pays the price according to pat Murphy. Why we bought Anichebe is anybody's guess but rare fuck up aside our transfers are strong and we are easily capable of finishing eight again.
It has definitely been a season for panic merchants though. Fans who think their team has a god given right to be higher than they are mouthing off because they can't go on a run of unbeaten games. Spurs fans typify this but it has been nearly everyone this year. Those who hold their nerve under pressure will win things and those who shit their pants will go down. -

Nice move by Rodgers to give Suarez the captaincy. Let's wait to see how the second half pans out before releasing the chevrons and discussing p45s

The channel I'm watching in Canada uses the official Premier League feed, with pundits. They use Andy Townsend and Alan Curbishley...

We have been god awful today. Second to everything, passes going wayward, defence looks like it has never played together before, and our 'attack' has been so disjointed and predictable. All the while Liverpool have been he complete opposite. Hats off to them, they thoroughly deserve the lead. Things have to change.

Tottenham are absolute filth. I hope we win this

Ok it's time for the chevrons.

What a goal. Got to say Henderson has been very good. Shows how bad Spurs are.
So soul, if Albion have been performing so poorly for the majority of the season, where have been the Clarke in crisis stories. Seems like a big club/london club media bias going on. If AVB had overseen a run of form like that, the papers would have been full of nothing else.
Sad to see Clarke go though. Think your lack of a lukaku up front has done for you..
