^ that's been doing the rounds for a few weeks
- No Millwall. I prefer the Highbury to the Emirates.
In other news I've really grown to dislike Barca (post pep) all the imaginary card twatishness

Both red card offences.
Glad to see the 'school of science' is once again producing quality players.

....and still winning 3-1 with 10 men
Produced 10 x better players than the mythical LFC Youth Academy

Jack Whilshire's media training is really paying off. He's got at least 15 words now.

So this fantastic Liverpool youth system we keep getting drummed down our throats....
TBF the starting point was low. We've seen about eight players make first team appearances which is a massive step up from where we were pre/during Rafa's reign.
I think many got carried away with Borrell's name forgetting he was part of the Barca set up.Thus far we've poached players from other academies and none have really owned their positions though we've sold Shelvy and Spearing for decent monies. Though 4 yrs isn't enough to really judge their work, I suspect Brendan wasn't happy with the produce. Recently the youth have been getting less and less playing time as well as a fall in academy transfer activity.
Them (Parland/Borrell) leaving mid season just before the derby stinks. Possibly a lost power struggle with BR. Given Borrell had known he was going to be passed up for DoF over 1.5 years ago - something BR wouldn't have wanted, it's no surprise.
But how wise is it investing so much in one man? A poor season with Brendan getting sacked and we're back to square one with no legacy in place.

Yet they will have made enough money on the sales to pay for the youth setup for a few years. Academies aren't just about producing first team players, it's just as much about creating a steady income

Errr...I said they were sold....that means we got some money in the coffers for them leaving. I don't get your point.

Have you got your Libpool vallance on?

Liverpool are shit. Everton are best.

Err....cos we're talking about the 'Youth System/Academy'...
Rooney, Rodwell....that would be valid as they were great youth players that came through and were sold for MEGA money
Shelvey you bought from Charlton(I think?) when he was 17/18 and Spearing was shit, is shit and you got a family pack of McCoys and a new minibus for the under 9's for him

Just out of interest though john have any clubs made a viable go of a youth team over a longer period of time than a couple of years?
West brom are finally seeing a couple of decent players come through after decades. Chelsea stole one of them for peanuts. Saido looks tasty but is in reality being over hyped. Apart from economies of scale for large clubs I think it's a false rd for most clubs to ........blah blah . Haven't i/ we been down this rd before? -

Jesus, grim pics doing the rounds of the Ajax fan who fell 30 ft onto concrete celebrating their second goal against Barca :(
Made me chuckle anyway... #they'reonlydietpills
