How was the food in the press box Corni?
And this year is Tottenhams big chance.

So, er, what happened this weekend then?
I was in Essex. Can't have missed too much?
-

Ah I see. A Billy Davies team beating a 10 man Derby team by 1 goal.
Was it scored from a set piece? -
• #89630
Too much Derby talk on here lately. Can someone get back to baiting the faux scousers please?
Current topic usually revolves around the team who are the laughing stock of the time, so expect it to continue for a while yet.

Was it scored from a set piece? We'd already scored from a set piece by the time your captain lost his rag.
Then we decided to keep it interesting by missing from a 12 yard set piece.

McLaren has been handed a two and a half year contract.
At least that'll give him two seasons to try and get out of League One.

...challenging for the title, no.
Why not? Seriously.Over the summer all the title talk seemed to be focussed on Chelsea and City. Thus far, neither side has made a particularly impressive start to the season.
Meanwhile, Spurs seem to have spent extensively and wisely. You weren't that far off a CL place last year, you've improved the squad, and every one around you (bar Arsenal thus far, excluding their opening day loss) has lost ground early in the season.
It's way too early to write anyone off just yet, but what's to stop your mob matching everyone else's results from here on in? -
• #89634
@DST, have no idea, looked like a slightly more upmarket school canteen, and all the journo's were tucking in. Had a really small window to film, so missed out on the scran...
Left the ground hungry as well..Cracking game though, well the second half anyway...
Though Villa's winner was a balls up of epic proportions..

Landslide, I think we will be there or thereabouts, but for a new (team that hasn't won the title in the last decade) to challenge for the title it means a whole new mindset, grinding out the wins, winning when not playing particularly well, having role players come in and do a job and win a couple of games for you, being lucky with injuries, and not being spread to thin across too many competitions, if injuries do hit you.
Tottenham haven't had to be in a dog fight of a title challenge, our movement into the upper echelons of the table has been kind of stealthy, as our reputation for stumbling at the final hurdle has kept expectations in check. Now with the Bale Money spent, everyone is looking at us, as serious title challengers and we need to think of ourselves in that light as well, and we need to deal with that added pressure.
Which is why you aim for Champions League football, whilst saying to yourself, yes we are good enough to win the league. But a lot of things need to go right for us to be in with a shout at the end of the season..

I'll take a route one winner any day.

Your trolling is a shambles.

Someone is still bitter over how our secret agent fucked up your club. We know all about McClaren as he's been here before and was instrumental in coaching our strongest team since the birth of the Premier League.
The fact he fucked you guys over endears him to us even more so.

I see he's following the Brian Clough way then.

Chalfie, lets not get carried away by derby's striking whilst the iron is hot to bring in McClaren as the main man, by lumping Spurs fans in with the it'll be better tomorrow Liverpool supporters. We've never mentioned this year as being "our" year, so lets nip that one in the bud right here. Challenging for a champions league spot, yes, challenging for the title, no. Enjoying being in the top three this early in the campaign, definitely..
This ^^ from a Liverpool perspective too

lol.
Kids are starting to take a real interest in football now. I was in Brent X the other day and I very nearly bought them a little Arsenal ball. Have a real dilemma. Are they Arsenal fans so I can take them to games or do I inflict Liverpool supporterdom on them?
Maybe one eachWhy would anyone do that to such young, clean and pure minds? You're a cruel man Mike.
Yeah West Ham could be in a bit of trouble unless they start scoring... Losing to Hull did them no favours, admittedly it was a dodgy pen but still.
Worst decision so far this season.

Worst decision so far this season.
Wasn't that United taking Moyes over Maureen? -
• #89643
I don't know if it's such a bad decision - even Mou would have struggled to fill the gap left by Fergie, so why not stick a dour Scot who won't kick up a fuss or spend much in there for a while until they get their hands on a proper manager
-

Maureen is a shit match for United.

• #89645
Exactly. Plus, Sir Bobby said "not a fucking chance!".

nice little result yesterday although i did have a bit of a panic at 15.57
i was heading back to my lucky seat ( you know the one, two seat back from the front door against the bar, my lucky 1-0 seat ) only to find they've shut the manbey for refurbishment ... 10 years or so drinking in there and finding the doors barred sent me reeling
luckily my local knowledge was enough to get me to the coach and horses ( the brith place of iron maiden ) with only 5 mins goneseems like i've found a luckier seat, now i'm in a dilema about what happens when the manbey re opens .. i guess i'll have a week or two to try out the new seat and see how the matches pan out
we played well i thought
-
• #89647
Why? They're above you in the table so what is there to bait them with?
scratchy ex-strikers?

Jose wouldn't have made a mug of himself in the transfer market. Can't see him losing at home to WBA either. Utd need strengthening, everyone knew that, including Moyes. Yet through their own incompetence they only signed someone worthwhile on deadline day, on top of that they paid more than the original buy out clause was 2 weeks or so earlier.
Call it what you like but Jose wouldn't have let that happen.
-
• #89649
that's not just Moyes (who's still a football genius) fault though, the chairman retired as well so that transition caused problems as well
-

Thing is dicki, if The Manbey is being refurbished then it'll never be the same again. If this new place is not lucky, you can't just go back. Your seat might be the dirty glasses area or a hatch for £15 burgers to come out of.
I think the place is lost to you.
