Tenderloin, yeah I know, lack of direct quotes always makes for murky water, but clubs/agents/players can't be seen to be telling the truth, would cause too much conflict.
I do think Ozil was shopped around, Real needed to get high earners off their wage bill.
Whether Utd thought he's good, but too expensive for our taste, is open to debate. Would I prefer Ozil to Rooney. I think I might.. -

I wonder what happened with this 'Late Real bid for Suarez' that [STRIKE]everyone[/STRIKE] no one was expecting?
-
• #88205
He wasn't a high earner. Was still on the same original contract.
I think he saw he'd been benched at the weekend.
Saw Di Maria, Coentrao, Ronaldo, Isco and now Bale were going to be about and obviously wasn't assured by the club hierachy that he was wanted/would be playing. In a world cup year thats massive. -

Ozil in place of Rooney?
Get fucked.I'd rather have an experienced winner.

I would have thought he employs a crack team of top accountants to have 4.2 mil euro tax misunderstandings on his behalf.

‘I never take care of that stuff myself and neither does my father. We have our lawyers and our wealth managers to take care of that and we trust them and they will sort this out. The truth is that I don't have a clue about all this and that is why we have people taking care of it.'

Kanu Believe it!?
Is that Arsenal's trophy room in the background?
Spud, please. Trophies are inbound. We've made a statement of intent here, and I think Wenger and the board are banking of UEFA FFP actually working as intended. Ozil's just the first step. Next up, Gotze, Reus, Alaba, Hummels, and all the other glorious German talent coming through. Premiership title confirmed 2014/15. Get ready.
Just got excited.
FYI
Giroud has pretty much the same finishing stats as Ronaldo. Roughly a goal every 3 shots on goal.
There are a few teams who look like the could have great assist partnerships:
Cazorla & Ozil
Navas, Silva & Nasri
Coutinho & Suarez
Hazard, Mata, Willian & Schuurle
Lamela & EriksenOut of those listed, aside from our players obviously, the only ones i'm really impressed with are Lamela/Eriksen. I was surprised Eriksen went for so cheap, but apparently he's been really poor this past year. Still, he's been the only spurs transfer i'm actually impressed with, funnily enough one of their cheapest too. Will he reach his full potential? Under AVB, doubtful. He has zero track record in developing young players. In this arena, compared to Wenger it's not even a competition.
Looking at Ozil's stats for the last 3 years, yes they are extremely impressive, but then again most of his games were against, let's face it, mediocre opposition in La Liga. I've seen a few YT videos of Ozil these past few days, and yeah it looks impressive but he's just waltzing past flat footed defenders. Try that at Stoke on a wet mid-week fixture he'd get the shit kicked out of him. Plus stats can be very misleading. Of course Ozil's a top top souper kvolitee playeur, but lots of stats in my opinion are meaningless. Pass completion for example, the most useless statistic known to man. Denilson regularly had PC of 98%. It meant fuck all, only he passed sideways to teammates 10 yds away in safe areas. Bendter had a 73/45 starts/goals ratio in his first 4 seasons. RVP had 83/43. Again extremely misleading. Assists depend on so many varying factors, mentality, opposition, your teammates, climate, crowd, wages, relationship with strike force, whether the assists/goals come in irrelevant matches and/or where the game's been put to bed already and the pressure's off, etc. Ozil won't come anywhere near to matching his La Liga stats at Arsenal, not without Ronaldo to service.
tldr: Assists and Youtube videos can be misleading.

He will definitely have left by this time next year. But not to Arsenal and definitely not in January.
