  • So next football stadium ride, next international weekend is sat 8th September.
Thinking this one should include Crystal Palace and possibly omit QPR, though we were going to them even when they weren't in the Premiership..

    Thoughts..

Due to start at the Library this time so if you include Palace then that would probably be an ideal finish point for them that lives in the urban wastelands south of the river.

  • The football stadium ride historically encompassed all League sides, not merely Premier League sides. Four were left out for geographical reasons. Brentford in the west, Dagenham in the east, Barnet in the north and Palace in the South would have added 30 or 40 miles to the ride.

Sadly 8 September is not looking good for me. In the old days when our leader organised the ride, it was held at convenient times.

    [/nostalgia]

  • I'm going to meatpoia on the 7th and will have guests staying so depending on start time etc

I like the inclusion of crystal palace (at the end) and removal of chelsea and their 'you can't cycle near here' attitude

  • Next Sunday, Chelsea Vs. Hull City Tigers at L'Effra Wine Bar... 4pm KO... I'll be there with my GoonerTwat™ mate, Vince... Join us...

  • Carra giving his sweaty input on the Suarez saga.

Interesting that he has given up on bothering to train.

To be honest, I don't want the fucker anywhere near the Emirates.

  • As I made my way back to London yesterday I was going through twitter and read the Arseblog article about the failure by Arsenal in this transfer window. It was retweeted by Swissramble to which he added some scathing remarks.

This morning I was doing a CB and mull through the groiniad website, and read the Tor-Kristian Karlsen article and it just reminds me, how much we've struggled since David Dein left and how it appears Man Utd may have experienced similar issues this summer.

I think it's an interesting point and I am loathe to admit that I have been very impressed by the way Spurs have got their business done. Capoue looks to be the latest in good business being done.

  • Next Sunday, Chelsea Vs. Hull City Tigers at Stamford Bridge... 4pm KO...

    Ftfy

I know there is talk about moving away from Stamford Bridge but it hasn't happened yet and when it does it won't be to a bar in South London.

  • Loinacus, was worried about the arrival of Capoue, not sure where he's going to play, and the fact we seem to have a surfeit of midfielders, both defensive and attacking, didn't ease my mind either. But Karlsen's article has made me slightly more comfortable, Capoue's arrival probably means the departure of Parker, Livermore, and (say its not so) Huddlestone.

But this point seems to make the arrival of Baldini and how he is working in concert with AVB to build a better squad, with the possibility of selling on younger players for more later in their careers, and a vision of the type of player we are looking to get in, make much more sense.

"one has to be impressed with the way that Spurs have worked the market this summer. They've had concrete targets and seemingly got the majority of players they wanted, picking players from the upper shelves with little guesswork, random buying or reliance on late agent recommendations. They've obviously had a plan: players with good strength and physique who will improve the team, all internationals and at a good age."

For whatever reason it seemed like we didn't have alternatives to the players we wanted, one target and that was it, and if we didn't get them, it was a scramble to get someone, anyone. Feels like we have a couple of options now, and if the price isn't right or we are outbid then its onto the next prospect.

  • Carlton Cole will be good for you. AVB must know him from his first time at Chelsea. Pleased things are working out for Cole. After being released by WestHam, Tottenham is a bit of a step down but still, for the moment at least, a Premier League side.

  • CliveHOHOHO!

Think you may have got it twisted, you being a twatterer and all, would realise the speed with which rumour and supposition becomes "fact". From what I can gather he was playing in a behind closed doors friendly, to keep fit should some club come in for him. Scorers for Spurs were Soldado, Lennon, Siggurdson and someone else..

  • No smoke without fire.

He would be a useful replacement for Bale.

  • @CarltonCole1: @1jamielawrence7 bro that session was very very good, just what I needed. Loved playing at WHL. Looking forward to doing it again and often

    Hmmmm

  • Anyway Corny, why aren't you out on your bike?

  • did bridges last night, and am out with Brixton CC tomorrow morning..
watching the mighty tottenham take on espanyol on tellybox this afternoon and then out to probably east london tonight for a couple of jars, will ride the bike there as well..

  • Also CliveHoHoHo!

If you envision Carlton Cole as a replacement for Gareth Bale, then all those seasons of supporting Chelsea have definitely addled your brain...

Thats like thinking buying an overpriced striker whose been shown to be underperforming, would be the solution to the lack of goals your strikers have produced particularly since you bought your last overpriced, underperforming striker.. Oh wait...

  • Clive 1 - Corndog 0

That was too easy Clive, too easy...

  • @CB I feel a bit sorry for Cardiff - I thought they'd stolen a march on everyone in looking like they had Capoue all signed up - Spuds come and grab him at the last. I'd have him at the Emirates, no questions asked (every other top 5 side apart from Man City would as well).

  • The pass from Ramsey and the finish from Walcott for our goal, was pretty special.

Fernandinho looks good, as does Negredo.

    Fucking horrid commentary.

  • And two more crackers...

  • Tenderisthenight, one of the advantages of being a london club. Players would rather live in London than head to wilds of Wales.

  • Blackburn >>>>>>>

  • Brighton >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

Bring on dirty weeds and the sweet crisp 20 notes from Pestinator.

  • Barnet 3 Chester 0.

Better team won. I think it shows that they are full-time, and only just got relegated, and maintained most of their squad. This year is not going to bring Chester's 3rd championship in a row, but our fans were still better.

Another Conference fan? Cambridge United here... How'd you rate your chances for the coming season?
