  • Think it was the promise of Big Sam playing his brand of football.

  • looks like we got Henrikh Mkhitaryan according to press releases just the medical to go

  • The big name signings never stop eh?

  • well hopefully he'll do better than hazard has at chelsea
they are oft spoken about in the same breath
    the new stevie g ?

  • Transfer coup of the summer in league 2:

  • Marcelo Bielsa's out of contract end of June, wonder if anyone in the premiership would take a punt on him, to pull their team out of the doldrums. He'd make it interesting to say the least.

Also Higuain to Arsenal, where does that put Podolski, Giroud and "I've always wanted to play up front" Walcott. Does Wenger play 3 up top with Higuain at the sharp point, or does he revert to the good old fashioned 442? Higuain looks like an upgrade on what they have, but is he worth the 25million?

With Palace in the premiership now, how many london derbies are there going to be? What like one a week?

Fulham, Arsenal Spurs, Palace, Fulham, West Ham, Chelsea. Good times to be supporting a london club, just need some of those satellite towns, watford, reading, luton to make it back to make it a south east monopoly..

    Fixed that for you

It's never been a South East monopoly.
Would you like to guess why teams in the South East are doing better than teams everywhere else?
Do you think it might be something to do with bigger picture economic stuff?

Would you like to look through this list and tell me where this monopoly is? Apart from in your head. Obviously.

    Look: they've made it easier:
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_English_football_champions#Total_titles_won_by_region

To paraphrase Bill Hicks: There's a big fucking drop off between 1st and 2nd. And not so much between 2nd and 3rd. FFS Spurs contribute FUCK ALL.
Everton have more than Chelsea + Spurs.

Where are the rest of the Southern teams? Are you counting Portsmouth?

  • Also Joe Kinnear, Director of Football at Newcastle, discuss!

Fly! Where are you? This looks like a train wreck of a marriage. Just after Ashley had managed to rehabilitate his reputation as an owner, despite the Geordies flirtation with relegation. Strong but lacking in depth squad, some quality players, and an interesting manager, now given a swift boot in the guts by Kinnear's arrival. He's limited at best, and I'm wondering what he brings to the table, when your chief scout is bringing in a load of french speaking talent, and the new director of fitbal, has trouble holding a conversation in english..

Could get messy in a hurry up north.

  • @Chalfie, portsmouth, brighton, southend, lets include all of them.

What about Dagenham and Redbridge, AFC Wimbledon, oooh who else, who else..

  • So, in footballing hierarchy:
    Barca, BFS, Stoke.

Cornie: Facts. Say something. Back it up with some evidence. Otherwise, it's just rubbish.
To say "a monopoly" is wrong. On many levels. A cartel might be better, verbally/linguistically.
In terms of evidence, it's just wrong. 19 "top division" titles have gone to "the south". We've talked about generational teams before and how success breeds success and all that.

But, 57 titles to teams in the North West, suggests you need to think that again.

And also: why do you think teams in the North aren't doing so well now? Clue: it might be due to bums on seats being expensive.

  • Does anyone know what Gus Poyet allegedly did?

  • Teams in the North not doing so well?

I reckon that if you tally up the points won by all teams North vs. South of Meridien over the last 5 years (since the recession started) that the North would still beat the South on the average points per team represented basis.

    #mightbecompletosh

  • on what website are you seeing that he did something allegedly ?

this isn't the shit throwing incident is it ? thats old news ?

  • allegedly allegedly

  • Does anyone know what Gus Poyet allegedly did?

Isn't because he publicly stated that he wished to leave?

Or was it because of the excrement found on the walls of the visiting team's changing rooms...

  • was it because he made a big deal about the poop? Or was it his dirty protest to get a move?

    allegedly allegedly

  • Is Chalfie on the blob?

  • To paraphrase Bill Hicks: There's a big fucking drop off between 1st and 2nd. And not so much between 2nd and 3rd. FFS Spurs contribute FUCK ALL.
Sheffield Wednesday have more than Spurs.

  • Is Chalfie on the blob?

    Not this week.

  • Is Chalfie on the blob?

yeah he had a little dig at me earlier .. and i thought we were friends

    • sniffles a bit * * dabs corner of eye with hanky *
  • al least he's not talking to himself in the third person as he has done on occasions in the past

  • @Chalfie, as Bill Hicks said, I'm just planting seeds..

  • As damo might say, you're chatting shit.
