Apparently this is Michael Johnson:
Remember him, the future England captain?
Johnson, convicted of two drink-driving offences last September, was offered a severance package from his £40,000-a-week contract just before Christmas, after several years of decline. The club decided not to announced it publicly but it has come to light now after a photograph of the 24-year-old appeared on the internet looking bloated and unfit.
Once the subject of a £10m bid from Liverpool, the former England youth international has suffered a series of injury problems but he also caused considerable disquiet behind the scenes because of his attitude towards being a professional footballer and, specifically, his fondness for a night out.
phew dodged a bullet there
shame about henderson / carroll / downing

So....Marsielle's Loic Remy passed a medical @ Newcastle yesterday
Now signing for baconface!!
Apparently QPR have matched our 8 million fee, and, get this: they are offering him £70-80,000 a week to play for them, AND he can walk if they get relegated!
That really is boom or bust dealing, presumably 'arry doesn't give a shit and neither does the player. As long as we find somebody else, i'm glad we avoided this guy.

QPR have deep pockets, and in actuality it seems like a sensible contract in certain respects, no point in keeping him on those wages if they are relegated, and if they do get relegated, I'm sure they'll get back most if not all of the transfer fee when they sell him on..

(1) Are you saying that you have always, 100%, done everything to meet your potential, and never done anything to compromise that?
(2) Is it compulsory to make the most of your football career if you have a bit of talent? What if he did not enjoy it much, is he not allowed to quit?
(3) How bad were his injuries? Did he know he would never be the player he could have been? Did he know injuries would force him to quit? Did his injuries force him to quit?
(4) How much money did he make? Maybe he bought himself a nice house and has enough cash to get by and is happy with that? Is this wrong?
(5) How was his mental health? Has he got depression or dependence (alcohol?) issues? If so would it perhaps be more appropriate to show him some sympathy rather than slate him?
Oddly enough I met Johnson's dad in (one of) my local(s) a couple of weeks ago.
He does have issues actually, constant injuries, led to depression, led to excessive drinking, shame really as he could've been a superb player.
