One thing that grates on me more and more is that some of the rugby commentary is pretty good whilst match reports and analysis in the papers are almost always above the football standard.
Is it because they dumb it down for their audience or is it because talking about tactics doesn't interest the general public?

I'd love to see more football analysis on the TV... I think...
I caught a bit of the rugby on Saturday and was very impressed with the in-depth stuff they were doing at half-time...
BTW I hate rugby... -

Rugby is duller on television than in real life and that really is saying something. It is little wonder that so many are deserting The Stoop for Craven Cottage.
Btw, where is Marco?

• #70155
Rugby analysis is miles ahead - more so because it has area specific coaches, something football can learn from.

Don't teams already have goalkeeping and defensive coaches... pretty specific I'd say
-
• #70157
Sky's Monday Night Football has pretty in depth analysis, imo...
Garry Neville might be a prize twat but he's pretty good at his job.

Abramovich doesn't give a tinker's cuss what Chelsea fans think of his decisions. Just keep on buying the season tickets, replica kits and associated Chelsea tat and suck it up.
If you were genuine fans you'd have protested all day long when the thickest billionaire in the world bought your shitty club from that bearded, crooked cunt.
Don't forget the plastic flags

GK coaches yes, defensive coaches, not all teams I'd say. And if this season is anything to go by it looks like they're all on strike.

Gold. Is that how liverpool plastics are justifying supporting them now?
Listen up shithead: there is a difference between what John said and the views of others. Goddit?
And FWIW Chelsea have won more silver ware than United since Roman took charge. The idea that everyone is a latent Fergie is total fucking nonsense. EVERYONE and EVERYTHING has a shelf life. The most successful are those that recognise and act when this moment dawns.

While there are many things wrong with North American sports, one thing they get right is fairness.
Things like the the draft systems, salary caps, etc are stacked against people buying the league, at least over a long period of time.
Yet teams like the Patriots, Lakers, etc still manage to be the best, simply by being really fucking good at what they do.
I like that mindset, and wish we had it in football.
God I hate this argument as it underlines a complete lack of understanding of the US pro sports structure. Apples and onions comparing the US to the European sporting structure.
And for the record the amount of financial fiddling, contract restructuring, deferred payments, etc. means that the salary cap is almost meaningless.
There is no inherent fairness, what the leagues are driving towards is parity. Parity and fairness are two different things.

She lives in Chepstow for fuck sake*!!!
