I like the way Clark sets out his team, he's not scared to tailor the tactics depending on the opponent whilst still trying to be be progressive.

Is it me or is Scholes quite overrated (even at his peak)? Very good player of course, but I heard someone - ex-pro - on the radio say that there were 4 world class English Players in the last 50 years - Bobby Charlton, Jimmy Greaves, Paul Gascoigne and Paul Scholes. Surely that is bullshit?
He's a vile, dirty fucking bastard, who gets away with some appalling fouls. My 2nd most hated united player ever. It would be fitting if his career were to end with him carried off with a broken leg.

Was wondering why there weren't more mentions of Chelsea's capitulation to Athletico Madrid. And also puts to shame those who believe that the Europa League is an easy cup to win...
Maybe Abramovich should have spent some of that hard earned on Falcao....
Corney trolling as usual.
The reason not much has been said is that, even if Chelsea has won, not much would have been said. The competition is not taken hugely seriously. That said, when we beat Real Madrid to win it in 1998, we made the most of it as should Athletico now. It is traditionally the arena for giant killing.
Our performance, particularly in the first half was as woeful as Athletico's was good. Poor defence rather than weakness of attack was the issue.
Positives are that every side needs a wake up and a wake up outside major competitions is a plus. Also the response of players such as Luiz, Cole and Cech has been contrite, humble and resolved.

in 1977, 2001 and 2005 when we won it i was happy to see the team add another trophy to the cabinet, in 2001 it made 5 trophies in a year that we'd won
any games a game and any win is welcome even back then when we were doing better -

goddamit how did chelsea win it in 1998 ? luck ?
-
• #65359

Meireles has joined Fenerbache
Strange one that, thought he was quite a settled member of the team

I also found it odd but Chelsea is about style and his hair is dreadful.
Also Di Matteo fucking hates pirates

It means that Mikel, who has been outstanding, will be di Matteo's first choice. It also means that Chelsea are pretty certain that Romeu is ready to challenge him.

Porto - masters of turning serious profit on transfers!

They needed that transfer, badly. High wages, 3rd party ownership on their top prized assets and the collapse of the Moutinho transfer meant that one had to happen.
The'll be alright (financially) providing they sell at least €30m worth of players per season. Under the circumstances they operate it's quite admirable but I'd say it's high risk as the rest of Europe are catching up with their scouting as well.
will be hard to make the top 6 if not impossible but i suppose Newcastle showed the way I and always said we were only a fraction off them since we got promoted together. Hope things stay as they are and people will start to see that Hodgson should have got the same out of these guys last year. The squad is pretty deep, it believes in itself and there is bags of room for improvement. in each of the three league games so far we have failed to get it right in the first half. Got to hand it to Clark for being astute at reading the game and staying one step ahead of his opponents.
