lol
He accepts that they are now a mid-table team -

Accept that fact, as we have with Liverpool and move forward. It makes life far more bearable

was listening to the football weekly podcast, probably from thursday, when they were discussing the Sahin loan deal, and it seems that Honigstein was of the opinion that Allen and Sahin will probably be fighting for the same spot, though now that Lucas is out for a month or two, we will probably see them playing together..
Word is the mighty spurs are in for Dembele, who I liked the look of, and is a very different player to Modric, much more from what I can see an old fashioned box to box midfielder, who can do it all, tackle, pass, and beat a man off the dribble.
Lloris looks like a good keeper, though I said that about Gomes, so what do I know, rumours from Arsenal is that he's not physical enough for the premiership, but he's only 25, so hopefully will sort it out...

Quoted for innuendo.

Looks like we could be signing Henri Lansbury tomorrow. Would be a quality signing at Champo level.

The thing is that he isn't really a midfielder now is he, he ended playing up in centre midfield by accident. I'd have him play either behind the main striker in a 4-5-1 or behind the 2 strikers when playing a diamond formation, thing is that you've got vd Vaart for that role already and on the left you've got Bale....

Landslide, I knew as I wrote it, that it would be ripe for "fixing", but thought what the hell..

Jaw, I think that AVB is looking to just up the quota of attack minded midfield/forward players. We can't replace immediately Modric like for like, so it feels like AVB is trying to up the pace level, for this fast counter attacking side he wants to build and to make sure we have lots of options for rotation over the course of the season and impact substitutions during the 90mins.
If he is in the VDV role then he'll be fighting him and siggurdson for that one.

wasn't he on loan at west ham then got injured for the season ? or did he just not tickles big sam's fancy ?
he didn't start a single 2nd division match and only started 3 carling cup games during that loan period of 1 year -

I think he's a football player, Big Sam doesn't seem so keen on them.

C-B : Here's one for you, although it's written about if AVB had moved to Liverpool, I think it can still be relevant.
The key points are fast defenders (why Dawson is allowed to move on) and a ball playing keeper - I don't think Friedel fits this role. When you look at Barcelona's success, having Valdes (a terrific footballer, who was 'made' to play in goal) has been integral to their success playing as a sweeper.
Lloris
Walker
Verthonghen
Gallas
Assou-ekotto
M'villa
Sandro
Sigurdsson
Bale
Willian
Adebayor -

This season could still be our season...

I like talking about ball playing goalkeepers. It's such a European thing to do whereas in the PL the teams still prefer to hoof it up field for a 50/50 challenge. Edwin vd Sar was probably best at this, his ball distribution was second to none and it's just as well that Ferguson didn't sign him sooner as they'd be even more dominant in that gap period when they had all those mediocre goalies.
GK coaching in Spain and the Netherlands includes 2 hours of field training and GK specific training is at an absolute minimum. A lot of the kids still get game time as an outfield player until the age of 12-ish.
Lloris I do like as a GK but he's at Lyon which means he won't come cheap and there won't be a profit to be made in selling him on, I kind of liked Gomes who seems completely out of the picture since Friedel arrived and he can fit the bill as well (erratic behaviour to the side of course).
Personally I'm really happy that Chelsea have Courtois as an understudy to Cech and he's gaining really valuable experience on loan at Atletico. If not I'd go after Vorm from Swansea or Stekelenburg from AS Roma.

Tenderloin I read that article way back when AVB was in the frame for the Liverpool job, interesting to try to figure out who he sees to fill those roles
just spent the last fifteen mins downloading football tactics and figuring out how to use it so I could do this
Porto under AVB
Spurs (possibly) under AVB

plastic ^
transfer deadline day looms large on the horizon
when is the madness going to start
please let spurs take adam
please don't let us buy walcott ... has his final ball improved in the last year ? or is he still flighty but ultimately a bit lightweight ?
he probably is just angling for an extra £5,000 per week
any other fantastical rumours ?
They won't except that everyone has their price and £25 million would be a very good price for Sturridge.
