FFS they were trying to wind the referee up to get Terry sent off. A sending off that all the replays showed was outrageous.

Was it not a member of the public who complained to police, which instigated the investigation in the first place? So who heard it?

An unidentified person made a complaint to the police. It is understood that the complaint was made after watching the video of the incident circulated on YouTube. It is not clear if the complainant was at the game. Given that Anton Ferdinand did not hear the alleged remark, it is difficult to imagine that anyone in the stands did. At most games it is very rare to hear anything said on the pitch.

That's the incident. You will not find a thing relating to this ANYWHERE on the internet outside of the odd mobile phone capture here and there. SWP was seen to be pushing Terry away and saying, "John, what are you saying?"
Drogba who whom normally can't wait to get involved in anything and everything walk away quite as a mute. Zakoura and other black Spurs players were going for Terry. And finally when was the last time you saw Terry take a red card for something, that as Clive just described, was "outrageous" and just stroll off the pitch without a whimper?

He's unidentified but you understand when and what led to him making the complaint?

Terry couldn't 'take it on the chin', he couldn't do that without becoming 'john terry, racist' in everyone's eyes and would have been sacked. He had to deny it to try and save his career. Could you really see him apologising and it all going away?
