The regulatory commission states that Evra initially complained to the referee that Suarez had called him black rather than complaining that he had used the n-word, because he felt uncomfortable ever using that word. After the match Evra, supported by Ferguson, changed his complaint to state that Suarez had used the word 'negro' which he took to mean the n-word.

On the basis of this clip, Evra does not feel uncomfortable using this word, so it is not clear why he would not have complained to the referee in these terms. Nonetheless, Evra went on to accept that Suarez used the word 'negro' to mean black, rather than the n-word, so I don't see that this is material.

The press will be treading on very dangerous ground if they seek to make an issue of this, and I hope to god that LFC do not do so either.
