Didn't comment on the england game, as it was boring, as boring gets.

england played with little to no ambition, no one to hold the ball and link front to back. Lampard didn't seem to do much, Parker, went and harried and chased. Was confused by Jones playing so high up the pitch. Walcott and Milner, felt superfluous, and I just wanted adam johnson to be given a run out from the beginning.

Good that some of the younger players were promoted, but Spain threatened without actually having that much of a cutting edge. England hung on, but you won't beat any of the bigger teams parking the bus, and hoping that Rooney gives you a bit of special magic.

We still can't pass the ball through five/six phases,and everyone looks rushed to fuck when they are closed down...

Wonder how adventurous we'll be against sweden, who we view as a lesser side, and so should turn over. Was an article about how prolific we've been during qualifying, but then the shooting boots fall off during the actual championships themselves, quality of the opponents being raised, pressure, the nature of knockout competitions..

I think that we played well. Seriously. This was not the game to "discover our ability to string 5 or 6 passes together". This was a game to show "we can sneak a win". A la (get me) Italy 0 - 0 England under Le Hod.

Disciplined. Wouldn't want to watch that week in week out. But....it did a job.

jones seems to be playing the busquets, initiating play role as well as the "makelele" protecting the back four role, except he's doing nothing but square balls back to terry and cahill. Barry's name hasn't been mentioned. Rodwell looks like he wants to get noticed. And I'd still have Johnson in the team instead of downing or walcott..

Looks like we've got the beating of sweden, but I'd like to see us be a bit more progressive. Barry's name isn't be called, and apart from that run neither has jones. Sweden are rolling over a bit. and the midfielders aren't being made to do much.

Zamora looks willing, but I'd like to see Sturridge on to replace him or maybe walcott. Downing is making an impression, and he's looking like the most creative of our front three...
