This is well worth a read, even if you think that you know everything there is to know about football thanks to having spent hours in a pub watching the game and occasionally hearing what Gary Linekar has to say about it.

Am already sick of all these cheating diving footballers who pretend to be men.

Does the article say how great he is before he has even managed a single league game for Chelsea?
I still think he will be the second manager shown the door this year after Warnock

Torres is a great player and has been performing well in preseason. If AVB considers he is right to start, it should be a good game.

For north london chelsea contingent, we will be watching the game in the Dartmouth Arms. Cant wait

Malouda, Torres, Kalou,

Cole, Terry, Alex, Bosingwa,
Cech

AVB's looking to speed things up this year, which looks to be reflected in that team sheet.
I though Benayoun would have got the nod over Ramires. He did well pre-season too, and will mobilse the static MF more then Mikel / Lampard.
I see stoke getting something out of this game. 1-1

Have to fancy Stoke today. Those old men will be shattered by half time

Drogba and Anelka on the bench. Even if Stoke could muster a goal (and against that back four and Cech as well as Mikel that is unlikely) Chelsea have the power to hit back very hard.
Mike, run off to the bookies with your confidence.

3-1 Chelsea. I like the look of that formation, and fancy them today.
I think Wenger's interview he makes the right point that in the sending off incident, both players should receive equal punishment. I would've booked both players, but Barton and Taylor's reactions have played a big part in walton's decision. I would assume Song will be retrospectively punished for his stamp, but I feel that should have been sorted out in the game by either the ref or fourth officiial both of whom were within 15 yards of the incident. From then on the game had an extra level of tension, which lead up to the sending off.

Can't argue with that. The ref didn't see Barton grab Gervinho either.
The lucky git got a yellow too, so there can be no retrospective punishment either.

Come on Stoke!! Shame about QPR...and the weekend hasn't been complete without a thrilling performance from the mighty Spurs.
My analysis on yesterdays yawn fest between Toon and Goons is that Gervihno wasn't quite prepared for the speed of the PL and Joey Barton get's too much shit. Imagine being wound up full time by every player on the oppositions team? I'm not aggressive but if someone stamped on my leg I'd probably punch him in the chops. Professional or not, its angering.

He must have though, else what was his yellow card for? I'm not meaning to harp on about this, it's just when referee's seem to make up decisions, that incident should have been seen by the refereeing team, and if it was then the result would've been fair. It wasn't.
Joey Barton is a cnut, make no bones about it, he is payed fair compensation for his troubles, so don't you go feeling sorry for the misserable little gobshite becuase he gets a bit of stick here and there.
Right lets go Football!!

Have some rep, you lovely man...
In the letter of the law, it's not.
There's always the human element in football, and the decision lays with the referee. sometimes/most of the time, they opt not to yellow card the diving player.
