  • Careful Dicki, you'll sprain your tongue and miss half the season.

  • Konchesky has passed a medical at Leicester... wooo

  • They must have spent £10-15m already this season.

    Championship madness.

On the other hand we've signed one player and Steve McClaren has spent couple of days doing a passable impression of Billy, moaning about the board not being able to sign anyone.

  • Spent this morning with two good clients, both Mackems, one a season ticket holder and they both absolutely pissed themselves when Libpool paid £20m for Henderson. They're exact words were "He's fuckin shite!"

Offers nothing, runs around aimlessly, takes ages to control the ball, misses passes and basically, they'd have taken anyone's hand off for £3-5m let alone £20m!!

  • Carlton Cole to Stoke for £6m...

So that's about a million a goal? At least Beckford was free.

Fuck me, this transfer window has been shocking!!?

    Young £20m
    Cole £6m
    Henderson £20m
    Jones £17m
    I'm sure there's more

    All shit

  • On that scale of things Modric is easily worth £40m+

    Cole £6m
    Henderson £20m
    Jones £17m

    All shit

Yup now Stuart Downing to Liverpool for a mere £18.5m apparently.

  • gets cock out, flops on table, staples, walks back, gets out hacksaw...

They really are the epitomy of Cuntiness!*

    *after City & Chelsea

  • How the fuck can Stuart Downing suddenly become an £18m player?!? He was shit at 'Boro and he's just stayed the same, if not got even worse...I don't get it?!

  • Not forgetting Andy Carrol for £35m, THIRTY FIVE MILLION, THIRTY FIVE MILLION FUCKING POUNDS!!!

  • Shudders to think how much Ade Akinbiyi would be worth nowadays

  • Shudders to think how much Ade Akinbiyi would be worth nowadays

    £65m

Along with Jason Lee and Ibrahim Bakayoko

Not really madness - we've signed 7 players, sent back all the loanees on big wages, sold on a few and sent others out on loan. Haven't paid over the odds for any of them (unless we spend the touted £7M on Nicky Maynard), a couple of frees, etc.

Sven inherited a team in last place last year, patched it up with expensive loanees and got us to mid table. Now he's shipped out the shit and started to build his own squad. Given the lower wages we'll be paying the current crop, the net expenditure on transfer fees is negligible.

The fact that you managed to appoint the most laughable former England manager is somewhat unfortunate for you, though.

  • The fact that you managed to appoint the most laughable former England manager is somewhat unfortunate for you, though.

Errr, you have Sven...I'd say we're about evens on that.

You'll go up and we won't though. Doubt players like Konchesky and Routledge will be going to Leicester to play for Championship wages.

  • (unless we spend the touted £7M on Nicky Maynard),.

oh you got Maynard. he's good.

now what happened with hargreaves then?

  • me and jonny spotted Tony Cottee outside Fenchurch street station getting his party into taxis at about 7pm last Friday. We were munching on pizzas in the pizza express whenwe saw the little cockney muppet. looking good for his age though, must be said

*I was eating a La Reine, Romano base

Serious? Sven's record as a club and international manager is way better than McLaren's. I don't particularly like him, but he did a great job with us last season after Sousa's appalling start. And he can attract big names, no doubt. I don't know whether we'll go up - as you guys know from the last two years, it's such a tough league to get out of.

Konchesky has taken a big wage cut to move to us - don't know about Routledge, although rumour has it he will come in the next 24-48 hours. He will take a cut too. Leicester have a wage structure and Sven will stick to it - that's why we didn't sign Yakubu after the loan deal, despite scoring 11 in 20 - wouldn't take a pay cut, and we could've had him for £2M

oh you got Maynard. he's good.

now what happened with hargreaves then?

I fucking hope we haven't got Maynard, not at the £7m Brizzle want for him...that is madness.

Hargreaves? I thought he was going to your lot. Quality at our level, but don't want him even on PAYG - too disruptive to the squad.

You are missing the point though, there are a lot of factors at play here.

For a British Premier League player, £20m is now what £5m was 10 years ago.

    1) Every team has much more money, with the big TV deals, and money filtering down the pyramid from the sugar daddies transfers, £20m is small change
    2) 8 home grown players in your squad. If you don't have them, you have to have a smaller squad, and there are only so many home grown players of a decent standard around.
    3) Premier League experience, it's the safe option. Yep Hazard and Mata might be the flavour of the month (especially in Championship Manager playing circles), but will they cope with a wet February evening in Sunderland?
    4) Teams like Aston Villa, Sunderland, Newcastle want to be where Liverpool are. Selling them their best players isn't going to help that happen.

All of these factors mean prices for these sort of players are going to seem crazy. But in the end it doesn't matter. If the Liverpool owners want to spend £100m on Phil Neville, then that's up to them, it's their money, and no concern of mine.

  • 2) 8 home grown players in your squad. If you don't have them, you have to have a smaller squad, and there are only so many home grown players of a decent standard around.

I thought you could just completely ignore this rule as Chelsea and Man City do?

  • Ha, no. They are going to have some very expensive foreign players, who simply aren't going to be able to play in the Premier League, cup games only.

  • Man city are not a bigger draw than Arsenal. Stadium cap is well off what the Emarites is.

Added to the fact that the length of Arsenals deal was 15 years rather than 10, and as far as I'm aware, Emarites weren't owned by David Dein or Hill-Wood either.

Emarites also entered into a combined shirt and stadium deal. Ethiad already have a deal for the City shirts which will, from what I understand, is completely separate to the stadium deal just announced.

The stadium deal was to bring in some cash in order to reduce the massive deficit, the company that bought it is one of the "shakes" so he bought rights for the ground off of himself. but 100Mil went into Man citys coffers so when the european ruling comes in they are safe.

Arsenal funded their ground by the sell of land and top end flats, they did this through a secondary company so any fluctuations in the market wouldn't effect the money available to the club, they recouped a lot of cash and got a great finance deal.

Given current market levels and the strength of the euro i can deduce that City are in fact total cunts

  • Not every team has money to be fair, the ones bitching ^ have more injuries than pots to piss in
