We'd have a smaller squad than Pompey. Even that tit Birtles has recognised some is badly going wrong at the CG. At the minute we probably need at least 8 players to be competitive next season. Villa can do one anyway, Camp isn't leaving and West Ham can piss off too. Earnshaw is 100% gone, Cardiff seems the most likely unless he can get a premiership side. After having about 10,000 strikers last season were now down to about three. McGoldrick isn't even good enough to play for Derby, Blackstock's just been majorly crocked and Tudgay used to play for Derby. I'm discounting Garner because Billy doesn't seem to think he exists.

Some of the scuttlebutt is that he's bound for Villa. If true, he could take down two different B'ham clubs in consecutive seasons. That would be a first.

Lerner has been more sensitive to the nature of English football than most of his fellow compatriots, just look at their decision to give away shirt sponsorship to a charity for proof of that. On the other hand he made it very clear to Martin O'Neil who ran the club so he has the "my-way-or-do-one" ruthless streak you'd expect to find in a multi-billionaire. He also didn't seem to give a toss what the fans thought about Houllier either. In the end, he'll not want to get that close to relegation again so I would imagine that he wouldn't choose the bloke who relegated their arch rivals twice.

I can't believe how quickly this has happened, I was convinced Billy would be here for his final year, they obviously didn't have the faith in him to get the best out of our squad without buying 'steller signings'.

He goes with our thanks we are undoubtably in a better position than when he arrived and have played some good football along the way.

McClaren is a coup for us and sends out a message to the other teams in the league that we mean business, can't wait for the first game of the season I will be there to welcome the new gaffer.
