Great result for us last night, I think we did really bloody well to contain them... Barca were magnificent on the ball, looking forward to next Wednesday at our place... :]
Come on Arsenal!!! : -

saw the last 10 mins, but barca can move, with Puyol out you have half a sniff...
Come on THE ARSENAL!

Barca were great. What I especially like against them is that they are always looking to move the ball forward. At every opportunity. Very similar to Liverpool in that respect :P
I do think you were lucky not to have a penalty given against you and to have 11 men on the pitch at the end. But it was a good result. I just could not bare another Chelsea v Man Utd dull fest in the final. For the good of football Arsenal v Barca would be an awesome game -

zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz that was a liverpool chelsea style game tight few chances 0-0 dreary bore draw
shame some of the world class players didn't put their talent out on show
i wonder how liverpool would have done against barca ( dreamily gazes off into space ) -

is it just me, but were chelsea so scared/concerned about barca's attacking threat, that they decided to cede territory and possession, at every opportunity, and weren't even bothering to try to attack, that was probably one of the most lop sided games I've seen in a while.
I know Chelsea will give it the beans at home, and with puyol missing the second leg and marquez out - possibly for the rest of the season, Barca are going to be wobbly at the back, but you would have thought that the desire for an away goal would have meant they would have at least tried to attack at some time.
Chelsea just shut up shop, played not to lose a goal and made no efforts to put barca under pressure, their two best opportunities came from mistakes by barca.
disappointed in chelsea's non attacking appearance, this is the semi final for chrissakes, at least make a bit of an effort... -

Spoken like a true Spurs fan, Andy! :-)
I agree btw, at least make some effort to win the bloody game.

Utd will do the same tonight. there is a lot at stake so first thing stop the way goal.
I hope Barca go through as they play such great football. Chelsea have got strength but not the best footballing side.. Barca Arsenal would be a great game but there is no way our defence could keep a clean sheet against that movement!

They were spot on last night, only side not to concede at Camp Nou this season. 1-1 or even 2-1 defeat away, is generally considered better than 0-0, but Chelsea may well have been torn apart if they'd opened up and attacked.

Shit game, I turned over at HT and put Steptoe & Son on

I think it was a great game to watch... Chelsea started well, they looked pretty comfortable on the ball for the first 20-30 mins but Barca were simply amazing, their passing was incredible... Cech kept us in it, he picked a good time to get his form back... Drogba should've scored, that was a great chance...

good result last night but i think those two missed chances will come back to haunt Chelsea in the second leg, i would have liked to see Stoch come on in the last 5min for a run at alvez, Cheslea have given them selves the chance to win the tie at home, it could have been all over like the Byern Quater final after the first leg. Xavi i want to cut his feet off. What a player

It's all very well admitting a mistake AFTER the event. He still won't get punished and it still doesn't change the result
Video technology needs to be seriously looked at, especially for events in the box - goal line uncertainties and penalty decisions.
There's too much at stake to be relying on out of touch refs -

He should be put in stocks and Tottenham fans and any other interested parties should be allowed to throw shit at him

Not the first time we have been denied at Old traford by a bad desission. To be fair they would have at least got a draw out of it without the pen but it made a huge diference.

Manc Ronnie, whats the point in playing like a first division side whose got a premiership side away in the fa cup, play for a replay, hope to do them on the break, snatch a goal. Is it me or aren't Chelsea supposed to be bigger/better than that. I know winning is everything, but to win you've got to score, an away goal makes it really hard for barca, not even trying for one makes you look like a small side, what was mourinho saying about smaller teams coming and parking the bus, exactly what chelsea did last night, no ambition, and who cares if your tactically astute if you didn't threaten the oppositions goal for the majority of the match.
so now they'll be at home and have to attack, which fingers crossed means that barca will get some time and space on the counter, knock a couple past cech and put to the sword the idea that you can win the european cup, by nullifying your opponents away and give 'em a good shellacking at home...@ Pisti
NAY NAY and THRICE NAY to video replays will do nothing for the game but slow it down, unnecessarily, I'll keep telling all of you whinging bastards, that video replay has enhanced none of the sports it is in, it just gives the media more to talk about, and the fans more time to gaze at their navels as someone looks at all the replays from different angles, before getting it wrong.
Video replays are an abomination and should be kept as far as possible from football. Fans and managers need to man up and accept that mistakes happen in football, because its officiated by humans and nobody's perfect. Video replays in the box, for contentious decisions, then for everything under the sun, thin edge of the wedge. The flow of the game is more important to me, than every foul, contentious moment being replayed and debated and then a decision made.
Those who call for video replays should be careful what they wish for, lest it take away the game they love and turn it into something they can't stand/watch... -

you are possibly the only person I know that thinks video replays are bad.

We played well or we were too defensive? I think we did a good job of containing them but we were lucky to get away with the 0-0... Barca tore us apart in the second half, they were passing it around for fun...

Yoget my text?I watch too much american sports and know video replays and the faff that go around them slows down the game. FACT!
you can't watch american football, or basketball, or baseball, without feeling the pull of video replay, and the slowing of the game, and those games have been modified to a certain extent to be more focused around television viewing, rather than the fan at the game.
If you bring in video replays for the big decisions, it'll get pulled in for the smaller ones as well, and it'll slow the game down, and then you'll be watching a series of set pieces, which will bore you to tears and resemble football as we know it, as much as richie resembles hugh jackman, so not at all... -

Those who call for video replays should be careful what they wish for, lest it take away the game they love and turn it into something they can't stand/watch...It'll take 15/30secs for a ref to consult a fella/panel in a box who have access to video, make a decision and give him an answer.
How many contentious decisions(ball over goal line or pen decisions) do you get in a game..2, 3, 4? I dont mind waiting an extra 1-3mins a game if it means that decisions are called correctly and games end with a fair result -

jo jo,
wasn't clear in my original post, the first bit is a quote from manc ronnie, which I was rebutting, I think Chelsea were far too negative, just defending like a smaller side would against a premiership outfit, rather than having a go, have the courage of your convictions, and the belief in your squad that you can get amongst them and if not beat them, match them. Chelsea did nothing but defend, defend, and then defend some more, it was a travesty of a match, if I was one of those 4k chelsea fans that paid money to go and see that I would be asking for my money back, it was almost as bad as when red star belgrade won the european cup, by playing for penalties from the first minute against marseille.
