so what's everyones thoughts on VAR after the city game?
My main gripe with it is that on such narrow margins how can we say it's decision is the correct one? With the Sterling offside call, the lines were drawn from the players armpits. Who decides where the players armpits are? Is it computer or does a human click where it is? What % of error is there in this? How does it decide which frame the ball leaves the players foot, what % of error is there in this?
Until players have trackers located in their armpits i'd rather close calls stuck with the on-pitch officials call, just me though?

Same as before they introduced it, it's a shit idea. They're trying to make subjective decisions objective.
There was a red card review at the Turf yesterday. None of the fans had any idea what for as the tackle didn't seem that bad. The pundit on TV was adamant it should have been a red card but VAR said no red card.
It also really kills the goal celebration. When Burnley scored their third yesterday they needlessly held off awarding it whilst they did a VAR check. -

Looks as though we will be the only team from last season’s top 6 to lose on the opening weekend. ManU giving us a total schooling here.

You're not wrong...
-
• #151031
What’s worse is that this is a really poor ManU side

We've had good spells but we need to get rid of Pedro, Jorginho and Kovacic, all useless for me... Barkley is back to his old brainless self, Tammy hasn't inspired much either... Happy was a liability...
I would have loved to see Pulisic play, I think he has the mental fortitude we need, we still have too many players just making up the numbers... Anyway, transition season, we aren't gonna win anything this term, let's see what Frank can do in twelve months...

barkley is a poor decision maker. all well and good having a few skills but he will never take you higher than third. Every top team has one ordinary player (henderson for example) and he might be yours but lets not pretend barkley is potential

Chelsea very unlucky in the first half. created better chances and hit the woodwork a couple of times. United looked decent in the second half. and some pretty decent debuts out there.
a lot of the scores this weekend do not really tell the full story.
was really impressed with Norwich on Friday.
yep #scruples joe!

I’m a bit gutted you didn’t concede another to join West Ham on the bottom with -5 goal difference

Watched the first half of our game against villa on avarious dodgy streams which kept dropping out, and being out of sync with the audio.
Had to head out so didn’t see the second half, but was confident we’d pull a result out. Nice to know my faith wasn’t misplaced.
Even if we lose Eriksen on a free next summer, having him for this season could be vital. -

Eriksen is really going to put the pressure on.

I've been polygamous for a while now.
@Rich_G it's also good if you're into american sport as you get access to all that good baseball, nfl, basketball, hockey coverage as well.
Getting it half price for the year, currently feels like a bit of a steal, even with the couple of days of usage so far. -

Far from a schooling, Chelsea played well at times but your starting eleven needed a blend of experience. Losing Hazard who carried Chelsea for years is going to effect and allowing Luiz to go was stupid (Lampard ego). Starting with Abraham and Mount was not a great decision when Giroud, Kante and Alonso would have been better. I thought Willian could have participated at some point but was not risked. Lampard talks a good 'managing game' but is in a bit deep I think.

Still 50% off if you sign up for a year on the website.

sounds like a lot of the senior players were not match fit. kante certainly a bit rusty when he came on. misplaced pass and late challenge on james. I am a massive fan of kante but it really shows the pace of the Premier League that players look ordinary when just a little bit below full fitness.

Watched the first PL game for a few years and it is eye-popping how fast it is these days. We were caught out by that. Big step up from the Championship (to Spurs level - hopefully the lesser teams not so much).
First half was more even, but the difference showed in the end. A few individual mistakes, but mostly just not being up to the speed of the PL and taking too much time on the ball.
Won't be many harder games and think we'll be OK still.
