Liked collymore’s stance, makes sense even though sol Campbell is odd as fuck, on the criteria that has for Lampard and gerrard appointed as managers, he should have been in a managerial position as well.
Collymore’s dismissal of Ian Wright and jenas, and the accusations of who is blacker (melanin wise and culturally) are always problematic, and usually divisive. No black person can or should tell any other black person that they aren’t black enough. You don’t have to like or agree with how other people of colour are making their lives in this world, but know and understand that they are still classed as “other” and the racism they experience is still racism.

Phew, can relax, now real have filled their hotseat, pretty sure Lopetegui wasn’t first choice and I’m assuming he won’t stay the length of his contract..
Now just to worry about our late late transfer business...
Levy should be camping out not just PSG’s and Real’s doorstep as they discard good players for horrendously expensive ones, but also sporting’s as their players are terminating their contracts...

Bit of a left field appointment but knows the club well. It also helped that he was “cheap”. Sounds like Levy played the usual hardball (rightly so) and managed to hang onto Pochettino for another season.

Fair point calling out anyone who works for the sun. Wouldn't have gone that far though.
-
• #143606
Yeah writing for the sun is never a good look, whatever your subject. And footballers should know that the sun won’t hesitate to stick the knife in if it gets the opportunity.

Has Benik Afobe set a new record!?

I know Stan's got his thing to keep up (spiky, saying the things others won't), but I think he could have said it better. Ian Wright has all the appearance of someone who's part of the conservative establishment now. (Football punditry, column in a red top, moving documentary about his background and rise to fame and fortune)
I don't think he had it easy by any means and he'll quickly be reminded of his otherness at any opportunity.I don't see what Stan C is achieving here, surely he should be attacking the system in the way it identifies those who it wants to incorporate into their world and then how it changes them (Ian Wright has clearly changed his presentation style) to be acceptable and packageable and ultimately consumable by the paying audience?

it's a shame stan went down that route after saying some great points in the interview.
forgot Ian Wright writes for the sun nd thought stan meant the BBC as racist which confused me.
it's clear there is no love lost between them.
and like you say the blacker than thou is very much a divisive attack. -
• #143612
Wow WAC. Don't know what a Tom is but is it as bad as being a woman beating crybaby? Have a lot of time for Ian Wright, despite the fact he was a Gooner.
-
• #143613
I’m assuming it’s how he rationalises the fact that he’s on the margins looking in, and those he believes to be inferior broadcasters getting opportunities that are denied him..

Meh - Nigeria in the sweepstake - there's a side-prize for the dirtiest team, so hopefully they're next-level (Cameroon '90, Netherlands '10) filthy.

At least you got the best kit...

It's "interesting" to see that while Roy and Joey (both outspoken, both with "issues") are embraced and yet Stan isn't.
sigh

Lopetegui gone.
Time for del Bosque to come out of retirement?

• #143618
Sam Allardyce surely?

Great timing. 👌

Collymore is bizarre - he can come out with a statement like "the thing white men hate most, that they’re scared of most, is outspoken black men" in an interview about racism and prejudice, without a hint of irony. He can complain about Ian Wright working for the Sun, whilst suggesting more black former players should be working for owners of football clubs who are more than Murdoch's equal in the dodgy department. He can brush off kicking Ulrika Jonsson repeatedly in the head because "I've worked since then", without giving any thought to whether, in the current climate and quite rightly, a mainstream media outlet is going to give a platform to someone who beats up women. Maybe he should have a word with beIN Sports...
-
• #143621
Correct, Collymore is a Grade A bell-end.
-
• #143622
He's also a very good analyst, but there are plenty of others who don't beat up women. Wright has become a really good analyst as well, but was given an inordinately long time to become one. Maybe there's hope for Savage yet...
-
• #143623
There is no hope for Savage.

• #143624
Savage, Wright, Collymore, England World Cup. the dross of football.

^ Savage
Does Robbie Savage wear Eau de Sauvage?
well that escalated quickly.
they don't like each other do they.
is Ian Wright a sell out? a Tom ? or is stan just a bit angry...not trolling genuine question
as I like them both
