True, maybe that is how it works. Burnley were relegated after one season and were debt-free.
-
• #136778
Pretty sure 'Boro has gone down significantly richer than when they came up.

• #136779
shit.... #stopfootball

Proper fixtures released. Annoyingly usual game against a mate's team is a midweek evening game. Boo.

• #136783
Probably because he's shit...
-
• #136784
Errrr, no we haven't...we're fuckin minted regardless
-
• #136785
FFP regs don't care how minted your owner is.
-
• #136786
So shit that he out scored Chelsea strikers for 4 of the 5 seasons he's played #liability
-
• #136787
FFP regs are easy to sidestep with a 'sponsorship' deal.
Not worth the paper they're written on.
-
• #136788
Like PSG, City, Real Madrid have all taken note of FFP

Lewandowski's agent had been angling for improved terms - crying to the press that he didn't feel he got support from his teammates in his quest to be top scorer in the Bundesliga. And now they're holding talks with Chelsea and United...sure

If you just buy assets badly, deliver poor output nobody will want to buy those assets.
Pickford got £30m for them because he was all that stopped them being relegated in Feb.
They paid £25m for Didier N'Dong and Djobodji last summer along with £12m on Oviedo, Gibson and McNair.
Khazri, Lens, Borini and Alvarez bought for £40m the season before - Lens played half a season, Alvarez 5 games and the other two played most games but bought at top of market value.
13/14 - Altidore, Scocco, Bridcutt, Mavrias and Giaccherini signed for combind £25m and were all unmitigated flops
That's £100m of utter shit which they may have recouped £15-20m on.
If you keep churning through managers, who are only worried about surviving the drop this is the mess you get in.

you'll get no disagreement from me.
just hoping that teams that were on a sensible path, swansea, palace, southampton, west brom, and then fired managers and got into the overpaying for underperforming players and then getting pulled into the relegation mire and then repeating the cycle, find a more organised way of being which doesn't involve them pissing away the riches they've found themselves swimming in... -

Fuck me, we're in for Brozovic now
My cock will fizz all over the place if our midfield next season is:
Schneiderlin - Klaassen - Gueye - Brozovic
With Davies, Besic, Bolassie, Lookman and Mirallas on the bench

he didn't feel he got support from his teammates in his quest to be top scorer in the Bundesliga
That sort of cuntish attitude seems a little more suited to Chelsea than Man U, but only just.

Derby selling their best player to try and recoup some of the money they wasted last summer.

Watford?!
Ambitious then...

Still a big step up from Derby.

A couple of seasons back I would've expected him to step up to a mid-table prem team like Southampton, West Ham or Everton. He was usually linked to some lower mid-table teams like Liverpool, but he had an ACL injury two seasons ago and he hasn't been able to regain a regular starting place since then.
Watford isn't a bad move for him if he wants to play more regularly. I'm mystified why the fee seems to have sunk so low. Yeah, he's had a forgettable season and has had a bad injury already in his young career, but there's usually a premium price tag added to these young English players.
We've been shit in the transfer market for a few years now, but I'd thought we'd started to get better at the dealings with Curtis Davies for £500k and Andre Wisdom for 2.5m.

terry to villa for £4m a year, maybe that's why they're in so much debt.
https://www.theguardian.com/football/2017/jun/22/john-terry-aston-villa-premier-league-west-brom
and steve bruce should know better, terry at 36 isn't worth that much, especially not in the championship.

Bet he does a job.
they had 15 years extra and only £30m more in debt, think Sunderland win that battle.
