You might stretch that lead further if you've got some Swansea and Watford players in your team...

We need to do at least £15/20m on a decent 'keeper
Sadly it'll all go to Kenwright & Co. 😒
-
• #123238
Don't rate Robles then?
I rate Fahrmann at Schalke, you'd get him for less then £8m as well. -
• #123239
was going to say you don't need to spend £20m+ on a keeper, Lloris only cost us £12m approx £8m sign on and then the rest in add ons. Yeah Lyon were desperate for the cash and to get a high wage earner off the books, but there are good/great keepers out there available for less than £12m as long as you know where to look, and what your clubs playing style needs..

You wouldn't get a player of his calibre into the PL for that sort of money these days I reckon. There will be the PL TV bonanza add-on.
There's plenty of talented goalkeepers around at the moment and a lot of clubs are in financial peril so deals can get done.
£8M for a GK gets you a Europa League quality player that should be decent enough to play for a top 10 PL side.
Butland deal looks like another excellent piece of business from Stoke.

yeah I thought we'd got the best of that deal, especially at his age with the experience he had, he's still only 29, so barring injury, there's another decade of play from him. Though Lyon (if you believe wiki) are due 20% of any sell on..

Just when you think things couldn't get any worse :(

If a football season was played in a calendar year than he'd have won the golden glove. Surely he's better than you make him out to be?
-
• #123246
Arsenal are champions in that alternate reality...
-
• #123247
He isn't the worst keeper in the league, no. But he has been directly to blame for some of our defeats too often for my liking. Look at Peter Chech, except for a first dodgy couple of games where he was missing match sharpness, he has been immense.

• #123249
You're talking sense, stop it Mike.
-
• #123250
I don't think he's terrible, and unless we go out and spend £20M+ we aren't going to get anyone better.
That money can be better spent elsewhere.
Looks more like your old fashioned Norman Hunter style centre half... #bitesyerlegs
