  • as the transfer window opens the rumour mill cranks itself into full gear, hears a gallery of players spurs have been linked to, lots of interesting young European names in there, mostly strikers and attacking midfielders, and apart from a couple of names I know nothing about them
@Prole., @jaw, @Tenderloin care to fill in some of the blanks

    http://www.independent.co.uk/sport/football/premier-league/harry-kane-destiny-will-be-calling-tottenham-striker-at-euro-2016-and-it-might-take-him-away-from-a6796451.html#gallery

gallery is about 2/3rds of the way through the story, I wouldn't read it if I were you, it's just an awful grab bag of where Kane may go if he has a successful Euro 2016, which I think is asking a lot as I'm not sure England are going to have a successful Euro 2016..

  • Always good to keep an eye on what our feeder club is doing.

  • @cornelius_blackfoot

engerland will struggle at the euros.. hopefully our clubs will hold on to our talent

  • Ok I'll bite:

Rabiot - Doesn't make sense to me, he was available on a pre-contract if any club was seriously interested last summer. Nobody came in for him and he decided to stay at PSG. His mother is his agent and a total nightmare by all accounts. He is a very talented footballer but do you need him?

Tim Werner - Good player but not sure Spurs would be the right move for him, he doesn't score enough goals but his touch, pace and movement are first rate. Everyone has been going nuts for Sane recently but Werner is a better prospect in my opinion. He'd be in my mind if I were Southampton or Liverpool.

Vazquez - Sorry don't know much about. Think he made his debut for Italy this year(?) Palermo are hard bastards in the transfer market, likely to be expensive.

Dembele - Of the same name as your current player, and playing for the same club as he did before. Was available for a nominal fee 12 months ago but I think signed a new contract. Big, pacey and turned it on a bit this season - looks set to score 20-25 goals this season in the championship, so would statistically get you around 15 goals in the premier league. Maybe

Berahino - Plenty of WBA fans here.

Austin - I think you could do better

Henry - Lots of good press about this guy. I know we're interested in him but I've not seen anything of him.

Diawara - Chelsea were interested and if a bunch of Italian teamsare, then you might soon find yourself in the multiple owners pickle as is often the way in Italy. Don't know much about him.

Pato - The Duck has long been linked with the Premier league but if he was ever going to ply his trade here it would have been sometime ago. Why you would take a punt on a player like him is beyond me, he's no better than what you already have and is just being touted by his agents.

Zaza - This is a player I could see working at Spurs, he's industrious and scores goals, can hold the ball up. Seems like an expensive option and Norwich are keen. Realistically he's more of a Mitrovic than a Pelle I'd say.

Bouffal - Too good to stick around at Lille much longer, plenty been written about him in recent months. I think he'd be excellent for Spurs a similar player to Mahrez, though I'd say less two footed, if he had some better company at his current club his stats might be a little better.

Lavezzi - Would add quality and experience to the Spurs team. He's a bit of a plonker but undoubtedly a step up from what you currently have. Would he move to a non-CL team? I imagine his next move will be to the team which pays him the most money. Which tells you more about him than I can.

  • Lavezzi is absolutely incredible in every version of Fifa or PES I've ever played. I'm always disappointed when I see him play IRL.

  • If you've watched him for Argentina or PSG then he's surrounded by world class players.

Shouldn't be a problem at WHL.

  • thanks for that, I know this is all piffle and nonsense and most of the players discussed won't be heading to WHL anytime soon, if ever, but always good to get a more knowledgeable sense of how a player would or wouldn't fit within our current scheme.

  • love the fact that Guardiola wants to manage in the Premier League, hope when he does he stays for a while and tries to build a team long term, rather than doing the mourinho three and out

  • Foreign clubs - going to the Euros and taking our talent...

  • Guardiola is going to Man CIty. :(

  • Did you actually think he might go to Arsenal? That is funny.

  • Tim Werner - Good player but not sure Spurs would be the right move for him, he doesn't score enough goals but his touch, pace and movement are first rate. Everyone has been going nuts for Sane recently but Werner is a better prospect in my opinion. He'd be in my mind if I were Southampton or Liverpool.

Sane looks the real deal though, whilst Werner still needs another couple of years at a team like Stuttgart. He's definitely not ready for Spurs or even a lower EPL side yet. To be honest I've never noticed him being especially quick, his movement is good but he lacks a bit of composure for me. I'm sure that might come with experience.

Does Son get much of a look in at Spurs, because to be honest he's better than most of the support strikers in the Bundesliga at the minute (Bayern and Dortmund excluded obv). I like the look of Daniel Didavi at Stuttgart and Yunus Malli at Mainz, but not sure either of them are an upgrade on Son.

  • Sadly Wenger is there til he dies.

  • That's hilarious.

Guardiola to ManShitty has been as long and protracted as ManUre's negotiations over Owen Hargreaves.

  • I thought he might go to PSG

  • I thought Moaninho was going there.

  • He's never broken a contract in his management career, still has a year left on his current deal and Laurent Blanc is doing a good job. Why would you think that?

  • Maybe - I like that Werner can use both feet, Sane is all left foot. I think he's pretty quick, certainly I'd consider him so.

I'm surprised how little Son has played this season

  • @Tenderloin, @Prole. Son has played this season, and been effective without lighting it up, had that injury after a couple of games which kept him out, and the Sheriff is a manager who isn't going to change a line up just because your available for selection, see, Mason, Bentaleb.
Son is given chances in the Europa League and looks lively, a bit too eager to impress, trying to do too much, and occasionally getting it all wrong, but he's a worker, willing to run, and has an eye for goal. Only thing with Pochettino shoehorning Eriksen into the front three on the left, and Lamela coming on, on the right, there's not an opening for him to get a start in the league. He did look really good in our 4-1 defeat of Monaco (who were poor) but his pace and urgency worked well alongside Njie up front Onomah and Lamela. Hopefully he'll get better as the season and (fingers crossed) cup runs go on..

  • Brendan Rodgers will take over from Wenger. Mark my words

  • The board aren't that stupid.

  • @b&d yet not able to find an apprentice for the Sith Lord :(

  • Amazed we won last night. Let's see if Neverton can produce anything tonight and potentially set up an interesting final.

  • some beautiful play by liverpool yesterday, up until Coutinho went off anyway (so about 20% of the game).
