  • I see what you did there! I'm intrigued to see what happens, how he sets up the team, whether he brings in anyone in the transfer window, how much he is leaning on his brother for info on players, teams, tactics in Spain.
Also Phil Neville must be a bit fucked off that brother got the big job without doing any of the heavy lifting? Or are they both bowing low to Peter lim?

  • I'm not certain that there is a case to be made for having to get your "management legs in the lower leagues". I think you have to get some experience somewhere and getting it in the lower leagues is only one way of doing it. I'm just not convinced a year managing Oldham Athletic would mean GN is significantly more prepared to manage Valencia. Now a year as a no. 2 at a Spanish club would be much more relevant.

    Stat alert.

  • Phil doesn't have the right badges.

  • really, did not know that, seems he only holds a B License! For someone whose stated they'd like to manage, you'd think he would have done all the licenses possible so if an opportunity like this comes up, he'd be prepared...
Probably why they called up his brother then..

  • @villa-ru, your bitterness runs deep. Despite the losses, how is Remi Garde shaping up, does he look like he knows what he's doing? Or are you the big team that needs to head down to the championship, sweep out the dead wood, bring through the youngsters and use the parachute payments to try and make a return the next season?
Or would Lerner cut bait with Garde and turn to another retread?

  • You don't need the badges do you? Or had that changed? I thought you just needed to be on the path to getting all the badges.

  • Dog. I love that you ask all these indepth questions of us. But if you've not worked out by now that most of us are just keeping one eye on the results and reading the match reports, then coming on here to jump all over you, mike, and dicking, when what have you been doing for the last 2 years?

    (Hugz)

  • It's changed. You now need a UEFA Pro Licence to manage in the Premier League.

  • Wut? I live and breath the Boro, its my passion. And I definitely didn't get bored and miss large parts of the 2nd half last night when it became apparent Everton had turned up.

  • Maybe because I work in a company that makes its money from sport, maybe because Spurs are playing better, have a younger squad and feel like their on the verge of something interesting, maybe because I have BT sport and am watching more sport/football than I have for a while, means I want to know more, have more questions answered.
Apart from the tribal bullshit, and the football pissing contests, there's honest commentary here, and a load of opinions that I value, so rather than slip into the middle aged malaise, I'll keep on, keeping on...

    Name and shame.

  • well @Prole. when you're not trolling the derby fans, @Tenderloin, @jaw, @MultiGrooves @roboto (though that's only on Derby and nothing else) @andyp, @jonny, @middleofnowhere, and some of the occasional posters who dip and out, but can't do the constant willy waving and bullshit "just like being back in the yard" posturing..

  • That hurts so hard...no place for @dan?

  • Thanks Corny.

  • Obviously apart from @roboto it's a clear Premier League bias.

  • Velvet glove iron hand. That's cornie.

  • By not naming Liverpool fans, there's clearly room for improvement. Next year.

  • I. Am. Honoured.

  • pfft, whatever

  • We're a bit good now

  • Liversexy

  • I'm honoured to have been left off that list... #thankfuck

  • Dat pass by Emre Can. To think Rodgers played him centre-back.
