Whats the availability on these and is that £60 with or without chainring?
I was in there yesterday - they seemed to have plenty in and it looked like they were sold with chainring.

^You can get pakes in red, not sure if theyd be any better or cheaper/easier to get hold of though
Edit: Yeah Ive emailed Blb, they are now 70 with chainring which is a little less interesting.

zane chaos from http://sheldonbrown.com/harris/cranks/130-single.html :
We generally recommend 165 mm length cranks for road fixed-gear use. This shorter length makes it easier to spin faster cadences, and also reduces the risk of striking a pedal while cornering (with a fixed gear, where you have to pedal through the corners, this can be an issue.)
there is also more info on sheldon's site here

Ta for that - 165 it is... now do I just go for those Stronglights or splash out on Suginos...

I have heard that it is difficult to get a 42mm chainline with the Messenger - does anybody have an opinion on this? Or is it cobblers.
Thanks,Jon
It's not if you use the Sugino 102mm BB.

The link for the Sugino Messenger goes to the wrong page.

I was looking at these last night for the SS 29er. Looks like a nice lightweight design. From the folk behind Chub hubs. Fifteen G cranks.

The outer diameter of the spindle is 30mm, yet the BB is compatible with standard BB shells (ie dosent need BB30). The crank arm connects via the weird shaped spindle end, which should give greater contact surface. Should be a stiff+light+cheap(ish) set-up if the theory runs true. All I know is the bike geek in me is smitten.

Sugino Track cranks are only £85 from Velosolo, and weight 645g, just adding information.

Anybody have any opinions on the BLB cranks? Anybody had a fail with them? I need a nice strong new crankset and if they're as solid as they seem they're great value!

I have a silver pair on my Bianchi. They're solid, frankly.

£50 from £212? What's wrong with them?
-
• #64
If you can live with the looks then those would be great for £50 I would think.
What is wrong with them, no demand? -

If you're talking about the Sugino RDs, Freshtripe have got the 48T model for a bargain-priced £65.

Also wondering here. Sounds like a good deal to a noob like me, trying to fathom any potential downsides (difficult compatability or fussy about replacement eg of ring or bb in future say??).

Just added the ALL-CITY range of cranksets

That's an Andle (that is, same factory as Andle) chain ring.
That factory's doing good business. Eighth Inch stuff is coming from there as well.

Hi, for various vain reasons I am looking for red chainset. Hubjub can order a red Sugino 75 (170mm.48t) - but I kind of balk at the cost. Condor have a red Messenger. I have heard that it is difficult to get a 42mm chainline with the Messenger - does anybody have an opinion on this? Or is it cobblers.
Thanks,Jon
