1st proper bike was a black raleigh stricker. Loved that bike. The replacement was the raleigh grifter. That bike was a tank, handled anything.

Hi, I have a yellow childrens Raleigh Spider sort of decorating the wall in my cluttered garage. I was intrigued that you mentioned such a bike and if it's like the one you still remember. Cheers, Paul

All my mates had Raleigh Burners. I had a burner copy by Ironhorse. With really skinny mags. My Parker was'nt a real parker either. Did'nt have the bright orange lining.
Still smarts.

I really wanted a BMX, but my Dad refused, saying it wasn't a proper bike. Since I couldn't have a BMX I decided I wanted the Raleigh Bomber but didn't get that either, eventually getting a beautiful white and Raleigh road bike (pearl white frame, red detailing). I would love to know what model that was: I remember it had maybe 4 inch long red mudguards that served absolutely no purpose at all. I ended up loving that bike: it wasn't as cool as BMXs at the time but it was sooo fast, I used to leave them for dust.
Anyone know where I may be able to find out what bike it was?

We used to ride our shitty OTP BMXs down slate cliffs, Through dense woods, down steep valley mud paths, and then throw them around a BMX race track.
Funny how I ride handbag XC trails these days, and stress about exactly tyre and PSI I should be using. As well as the best size of hydrolic disc to use.
Gotten old.

At first I was like...
But then I was all...
First pic is my brother, so I had that Raleigh Stryker after him (until the handlebars rusted through and I managed to pull them off the bike whilst riding it!) Second is me on my old Raleigh Burner. I must of been about 9 in that photo. I hate that photo!

I remember it well, out of true back wheel, but I still thought it was bees knees.

Cor, I remember it well. I think it was a Raleigh, gold and red paint job, and the best bit of all, solid rubber tyres that could never puncture!
My Dad refused to fit stabilisers and made me take some falls until I learnt to ride it properly, which didn't seem to take too long.

Unearthed this gem the other day.
This is the day I got rid of the stabilisers. Admittedly you can't see too much off the bike, but it's all about the basket and the killer outfit.
She had cherry stickers on the seat tube. -

I have no idea what my very first bike was, something tiny and blue with a picture of a tortoise on it I seem to remember, that was definitely the bike I learnt to ride without stabalisers, I remember riding it up and down the garden falling off less and less untill I was all gravy, then it was all about the Raleigh Mustang.
I learnt to ride on a Budgie. Kirknewton, Scotland. Good times. :)
