  • bloody hell, thats a blast from the past for me, there was a bigger red one for the next generation up that a friend of mine owned as well, did it have a panel with buttons on it as well?

    yeah the raleigh vektar
    and street wolf

    they were rare as man
street wolf had 20'' wheels tho as did the vektar

    the wolf cub was smaller

  • thats right the street wolf...huh always wanted the next one up but santa never got me one ;(

  • I had something kinda similar to this bad boy. I had no idea of make, but bmx's were pretty rare back in Yugoslavia.

  • ...started a neon love affair

  • I was thrown in at the deep end

  • I wish I could remember what it was but for Christmas when I was around 7 or 8 I got a bicycle, it was no ordinary kids bicycle however, it had a tubular spaceframe chassis rather than a conventional frame, it was also fully faired... It was basically a pedal powered motorbike shell...but for little people... I've got no pictures but as accurately as I can remember it looked exactly like a little Ducati Superlight... same colour scheme and everything, white frame, red bodywork

It was the coolest bicycle in existence, no doubt about it... unfortunately we had a really long downhill driveway and after many "high speed" crashes it ended up beyond repair... Wish I could get another one, just to have one... :(

  • RSW 11

    Raleigh Small Wheel 11" wheels.

  • I was thrown in at the deep end

Electric, are you from the future. I'll be watching those do the IOM TT mountain circuit in July.

  • i don't have a photo, but it was a tiny red and yellow malvern star bmx, and it was 1984, and i was 4.

I was thrown so far into the deep end i was born in the future, yes.

  • raleigh wildcat. child of the 80's complete with sick sound effects box for extra radness.

I envied the kid who had one of these so bad. When they came out it was like riding a Tron bike or something, I badly badly wanted one.

My first bike was some kind of mountain bike that got nicked after a week or so so I can';t really remember it and I never learned to ride it. The bike I learned to ride on was an all red Raleigh bmx that I loved to death, I didn't want to let it go even when it was blatantly too small for me until I saw a black 'Pirahna' bmx in my size with pseudospoks. These were pretty much the only two bikes I had up until I was 18 and they served me bloody well!

  • I had one of these, a Tomahawk it was the shit. Junior chopper type thing, class.

  • andy.w; Kudos, thats is fantastic I would love one of them or an old skool Kuwahara.
I coveted them as a kid.

  • Thanks - BMX porn just for you
    http://bmxmuseum.com/bikes/kuwahara/ .

  • The Tomahawk was an ace bike! My younger cousin had one while I had a Raleigh Tempest, which was basically a metallic purple shopper, it was beyond shit... Then I got a 5-speed Raleigh Arena and chucked some bullhorns on it... That kept me happy for a while...

  • First one I remember was a Chopper.
    Later a Raleigh Gran Sport.

  • A Sunbeam Champ. This was a cheaper version of the Raleigh Budgie, but with solid tyres (and bigger wheels possibly?)

Here is is when it had been passed to my younger sister's ownership. Look at that slack chain.

  • 'mr greedy' shoulder bag FTW

  • Not my first bike but my second (think my first was some crappy hand-me-down), but definitely my first wife beater vest FTW!

  • I can't find a photo of my Rainbow Chaser.. what a gip!

  • 'Trackers' were all the rage in my area in the 70's. 24" wheeled road type frame with singlespeed, knobbly cyclocross tyres, rear brake and cowhorn handlbars.
Could ride it in the woods, take it over sweet jumps and so on.

  • the first bike i remember was a raleigh spider in yellow with spider web graphics, cool bike, my first i probably have pictures of but don't have a clue what make it was will have to research but i do remeber doing my first tricks on a wooden ramp over a couple of bricks down the driveway plenty of air and my first crashes too
    then raleigh arena blue
raleigh record sprint with aero tubing
    another raleigh record sprint
condor bmx cheap from far east
    mongoose californian with z rims

  • I can't find a photo of my Rainbow Chaser.. what a gip!

  • I don't remember it flying... other than the times I caught air off the old bricks+plank of wood trick :)

  • Fixed (for the nonchalant one-handed leaning trackstand look!)
