  • and yes, I am going!

  • clearly at 11:25 both Kirth and I start thinking about whisky...

  • I'm going as well... taking a friend for a birthday present. Best kind of gift when you get something yourself

    Looks pretty good

  • I just cancelled my +1 as she's ill... well hopefully Patrick got the email soon enough

  • I'll take one of the +1s going. I couldn't get in the first round.

  • Grab BQ's. I sent an email cancelling mine

  • Cool. BQ - Do you mind?

  • It's yours.

  • Much obliged. See you at bar for the prompt 6:30 start.

  • Well, that was a bit nice. Picked myself up a bottle of the unpeated Caol Ila on the way out

  • I was good and didn't shop.
That Port Ellen pretty much ruined the earlier whiskies for me, it was so gorgeous.

The English whiskey I've got, by the way, is a peated version, distilled in December 2007 and bottled in May 2011. Far too young and rough really.

  • oof yeah, that might be a bit brutal.

You can't get hung up on the Port Ellen, you'll probably never try it again...

  • Most enjoyable gentlemen. Thank you for the good company and good conversation. Looking forward to the next tasting but we should get together again there soon before Kirth finally manages to sneak his way into the US.

  • Auchentoshan classic - meh

    :(

  • Arbelour 10. Good for 20 quid.

  • Yeah had some of that recently - did give me a next day head though

  • Talisker 10 year - £22 in my local Sainsberries!!!

Would have bought it if I hadn't spent £25 on a bottle in Waitrose a week before.

  • Auchentoshan 21 is very nice. The 3 wood is lovely.

I am working through a bottle of Glenlivet Nadurra at the moment - paired with an orange and walnut cake after dinner it is stunning.

  • Talisker 10 year - £22

Want. Thanks for the heads up.

  • Want. Thanks for the heads up.

Get on it. There was only one bottle left in mine and it had a small audience

  • Picked this up today at Vintage House. Good price and quite nice, Laphroaigy but, not in-your-face-smell-my-iodine-and-oil-slick-in-seaweed Laphroaig. It's a sophisticated Laphroaig Lite™.

It's quite nice, but I do like the in-your-face, unapologetic 10-year old Laphroaig.

  • Picture no worky

  • Wish I'd bought Talisker the other night in Tesco - £22

  • Waitrose had Lagvuilin 16 plus a load of others with 20% off.

  • Bought a bottle of Penderyn. Can't decide if it's really rough or just... different.
