That’s the one I wanted! Makes me feel a little better if it is disappointing

The Whisky shelves at my local Mozzers are neatly empty. Shortages?
-
• #3954
A couple of months ago I read that there's a cardboard and glass shortage which is is causing problems.

Might explain it ta. I'd drink it from plastic milk bottles if Laphroaig are listening...

My homebrew club at Water Into Beer in Brockley have formed a whisky club. Bring some whisky, buy a beer, have a great night.

What were the ancnoc and Waterford like?
-
• #3959
Ancnoc was lovely, like a very sherry ladened, spiced Christmas cake. Waterford was nice, quite creamy/fudgey and smelled of quality street toffee Pennies.

Stopped by my local newish whisky shop/bar in Brighton Cut your wolf loose. I did go to their launch weekend a while back but ended up getting hammered so couldn't remember what whiskys I'd actually tried so didn't end up buying anything. The selection in store was overwhelming with hundreds of bottles and hardly any i recognised so i just told them what i liked, what I didn't, how i will be drinking it and was happy to go with their recommendations. Ended up with a shortlist of 4 and had a tasting dram of each one. Went for this for £50 so not too heavy on the hipster tax i thought. Their online shop is down at the moment but keep an eye out when it's back up and running as it's worth a look.

Quite a few discussions on this over on Twitter.
Looks like Diageo are attempting to reposition Talisker as their Macallan
Bad news on the Lagavulin 16

What’s that about the 16?

It’s going to cost one hundred quid. And Talisker 18 £250!!! I can see the 18 is sold out almost everywhere and is currently up at £126 from an independent seller on Amazon.

If you like those and don’t like being vigorously de-robed and spanked about the bottom, I re-recommend this.

Stock up while it's 'cheap' then?

Lagavulin 16 is still £49 in Waitrose, but only click/collect where I am.
-

Surprised there’s any left anywhere as it’ll be easy money for bottle flippers
I’ll definitely pick up a reasonably priced Lag 16 if I spot one anywhere. Can’t imagine paying £100 for it
-
• #3972
It'll be closer to £80 as I believe £50 is still base RRP
-
• #3973
Yeesh, it'll be that much more by the time it gets to CA.

Been using Auchentoshan (like I could ever spell that right) for cranachan (fuck, or that) and maybe drinking a bit of it. Not bad for a boilermaker but tastes very hot to me, as in quite sharp, harsh.
One for the 'guest decanter' also known as the 'you don't have guests so will end up drinking it all yourself because you've caned everything else' decanter.

Sainsbury's with the cheap Woodford at the minute.

Bought a bottle of the Dartmoor Sherry Cask on a trip down that way in the summer. It was a little underwhelming and £80 but perhaps I’m not the best judge as it’s not my preferred style
