  • Just polished off the last of my Glenmorangie. Too sweet for my palate normally but highly addictive in Whiskey Macs.

Now I have only Hendrick's gin, some Gordon's, some schapps and some Romanian home-brew palincă that is about 70% strength.

  • Now THAT"S a shirt I do like, and it would match my bike...

  • Had a wee dram of Ardberg 10 y.o. last night.

    Very nice.

  • I got this for Xmas, really recommended reading.

And just bought a bottle of the Glen Moray, on offer at my local Oddbins for £17.99

    The current line up...

  • Jeez. Whisky centrefold.

  • Macallan, Balvenie, Aberlour, Glenfarclas, and Strathisla are some of my favourite malts.
3 out of 5 is some going. Zed you are man of taste.

  • After all that excitement I forgot to try the glen moray...

  • I've never tried Ardbeg, what's it like? How does it differ from the other Southern Islays?

I'm getting more and more into lighter Speyside and highland malts... full-bodied and heavily-peated whiskies are great and all, especially after a big meal, but sometimes something a little more delicate is called for.

  • After passing out from drinking the first five, I forgot to try the glen moray...

    ftfy

  • I found Ardberg 10 yo quite paletable (sp?)...

Defo try one in a pub next time u see the bottle Josh.

  • been pacing out a bottle of this since Christmas

Still probably my favourite any occasion whisky.

Can't argue with the above. I'm only allowed to drink Speyside and Highlands for family reasons. I would add Mortlach (tricky to find) to the list as my favourite, for everyday drinking I like the Singleton (used to be called Dufftown I think). Of the big names, Macallan, older Glenlivet and Glenmorangie will do nicely.

  • I actually have a Scotch Malt Whisky Society Society jersey. It was a limited release and being a nerd I bought it. I got a XXL as most cycling attire doesn't quite fit my massive guns. Or my whisky/beer belly, whatever.

It's fucking massive. I can't even wear it and I'm not a little fella. Still, it looks cool. If you're into the whole big-motherfucking-whisky-label-across-the-belly look.

Fucking get in. Any occasion though?! It's hardly an easy going drip!

  • just finished my (halloween-ish) birthday bottle of glenmorangie. finding it a bit sweet and sickly now to be honest. been drinking macallan in pubs lately and enjoying that very much. could do with a recommendation for something in that ballpark for my next bottle though.

  • Glenfarclas or StrathIsla.

Good man! Not wishing to bring down the party, but earlier this year I scattered my dad's ashes in Scotland and took a bottle of this with me. I took my dad's ashes up his favourite Munro, then scattered the ashes round a tree halfway down (as it is not considered good for the fragile ecology to scatter them at the summit) I then gave the ashes a good dousing of Laguvulin, and had a fair few drams myself whilst taking in the views of the Loch and thinking about dad. It was a nice thing to be able to do, so this will always be my favourite whisky. Sixteen is also my lucky number!

Just finished my first week at a new job, it's going really well and it's actually doing something I enjoy and gives me lots of time with bike stuff.
Had a spate of bad luck for a few years and I finally seem to be progressing and getting past it all - seems like a pivotal couple of weeks. This is my first weekend off since I was at school so I thought I'd treat myself to a little drop and look forward to the future.

  • This was a celebratory purchase today - it's all part of the rebirth of the Cambeltown region, once the big player, and recently reinstated as an 'official region'. Only had a dram, undiluted, and it matched the tasting notes. Not the smoothest (I think it's only about 7 years old at the moment, and is intended to mature as a 12), but full of character, with a long and complex finish. A little goes a long way :)

    Official Tasting Notes
**Nose: **Spicy buns! Cardamon, cinnamon, heather honey, butter toffee with a slight savory note of toffee popcorn.
**Palate: **Like a silky smooth melted honey comb chocolate bar. Fruitiness present as crisp and very sweet red apples. Incredibly rich and buttery, like gingerbread cookie dough, yet fresh with hints of clover and freshly cut summers grass.
Finish: Alluring and warm... a great summers evening dram that leaves you licking your lips for more.

  • got this for me pa for his birthday, very very nice indeed.

  • this was also very good

  • I have been banging on about Strathisla ever since I started posting in this thread. Nectar of gods that is.

  • yer man that shit is nice

  • bought a bottle of Ledaig in Tobermory a few weeks ago

    highly recommended
