I suspect that most that will sell are mostly selling to independent bottlers as opposed to groups looking for a single cask.

Are you after a single cask of a vatted single malt or do you also mean "single cask"?

A single cask of a single malt from a single distillery - not vatted.

So whatever the choice of distillery, what you get could be a bit random. Distinctly different from the brand's normal character, at least. Although some distilleries, when they sell what they call single cask, often do mean vatted.

Under strict orders from the doctor to not drink and then I finally manage to find another bottle of this.

How did you get your hands on that? Once Bourbon turned hipster all the Van Winkle disappeared. Very jealous.

Gotta know who to ask and they've got to know you, basically.
Can get more tomorrow but it's fucking expensive.
Last time I managed to get a bottle about a year and a half ago it cost me £130, gone up since then but couldn't let it pass me by this time as it's such a nightmare to get.
Probably the last one I'll buy for a few years.

Just to go on record, I didn't buy this.
It's lovely but I'd never be able to justify to spend that sort of money on whiskey. But I obviously am very grateful for it as a gift.

Just got a taste of Nikka from the Barrel. Instant purchase, so nice

If you fly with finnair they have nikka from the barrel as a pre order, must be done at least five days before your flight for €31.50. If I'd known I'd have sorted it on the way out... Brought a bottle of hibiki masters select when I was leaving Shanghai instead. Have no idea what it tastes like or if it's any good, but until I can purchase some nikka from the barrel it'll have to do..

Tesco have Bulleit, Woodford and Buffalo Trace for £20 atm (each)

Good to know, I know some of their crew that can take me a bottle when they come over here next.

Not much cheaper than MOM but a hell of a lot cheaper than over here in the sandpit.

At Hawker House for a friend's engagement drinks. Just played whiskey roulette and got the jackpot, a bottle of Chivas Regal single malt. Catch is I can't take it home as they are not licensed for people taking it off the premises. It has to stay behind the bar so I've got them to empty half of it into a massive glass and I'm sharing it out amongst my friends.

I can come back next week and drink the rest.

Got some bulliet from Morrison's for £22. Goes down real easy.
