Anyone ride with back protection?

Had quite a scare involving a big rail last year that's got me scared of them, so I bought one for this year.

Also had a scare last year, so I bought one, it hasn't arrived. :(
12 hrs and I'll be on my way. 24hrs and I'll hopefully have got a run in.
Mine's more for off-piste though.

Yeah, I was super lucky. Was being a right twat.
Went off a drop, hadn't scoped it properly. Didn't check landing, cartwheeled, scorpion-tailed (legs to back of head).
Must've been amusing to watch. Skied down, thought it'd be ok with a rest.

Lots of warnings about poor sugary base and fresh dumps. They think it may be like the 05/ 06 season that saw record deaths off piste due to avalanches.

Are you heading out in to the backcountry or are they being cautious? Just invested in a new beeper, shovel and probe...so a bit like building a new bike and it raining!

Dumped in st Anton today.
I set off a sizable slab avalanche. Was massive-ran to end of slope but probably size 2. Wanted to return to photo, but decided against it. Scared the shit out of me, but slow moving and slushy, so managed to calmly ride off to the side, screaming at my mate following me down.

I'm going snowboarding for the first time at the beginning of Jan - eek! I've managed to beg/borrow/steal almost all the equipment I need, other than bindings. Does anyone have any they could lend me? I will repay in beer or smelly French cheese...

When are you going? We've got tons of spares that you're welcome to use but are flying out tomorrow morning for 8 days.

I think that's the day we get back, not sure if it's a morning or evening flight yet, will find out some time tomorrow.

What size boot are you using?

I go super early on the 4th though, so unless we rendezvous at City Airport then it won't work!

My boots are either a 5 or a 6.
