Where you off to?
I'm 5' 9 and 70 kg but ride a 54 or 56 - not sure it matters much. unless park is your thing.

Park is not my thing...
Getting a bit old now (36) so this will be a gentle slide hopefully. B-)
I might even give the dredded skis a go...

Dude, I turned 36 while I was out there 2 weeks ago. Decided to do a guided off piste adventure for a day, dropped into a couloir for the first time. Was great. Although the we all did find the long slow run home (les arc 1800 - Plan Peisey) after the bar was definitely the most fun.
Enjoy Val. Tignes/Val are great fun. I have to admit I was tempted by skis after seeing how much better they are now and riding with a bunch of skiiers you realise it wouldn't be that bad... but then I remember my knees.

Yah been to Val D before. Won't be doing much off piste :o) Forecast is looking a bit white out atm. Can't choose the weather ay....
Does Sun Dance

Yeah probably easier to rent.
I'm taking my board and I'm paying for carriage already.
@hairnetnic needs some shizzle. -
• #1159
Going to Val, the forecast is looking a bit white out, and won't be doing much off piste? Do you actually ride brah?
-
• #1160
Didn't see this before, may have stuff in the attic at home.
Guessing @hairnetnic would ride about a 158?
-
• #1161
He'll probably take any old beater.
Got to get him to link turns still ;) -
• #1162
er, maybe, what do beginners ride? I'm just over 6 foot, size 9 feet.
-
• #1163
All about speed me. Nasty bad ass speed. Fuck knee deep in some woods. And Sun. Lots of fucking Sun. And Folie Douce. B-)
-
• #1164
haaha oh god folie douce! when ur friends make it there as beginners, then get stupid drunk and they have to make it to the last chair outta there. thats fun!
-
• #1165
158 will be fine (depends on mostly weight) something soft/mid-flex with de-tuned edges. You won't need a wide board with size 9's.
-
• #1166
I've found a board, boots and bindings.
Rome crossrocket 158
Ride bindings
Pretty much new Forum boots but they're a 9.5 if you wanna try them because snowboard boots can have pretty manic sizing.Although it depends on weight I'd put you on a 158, it's what my dad rides and will be a bit more stable than the 156 I ride.
-
• #1167
Cos you can't go fast off piste :$ you're only ever knee deep in a wood if you fall over. Folie Douce has a good few trees runs around it for you to practice.

• #1168
nice one, cheers!
I weigh in at 90ish kg these days.
Are you free next week so I can give em a try?
-
• #1169
158 sounds perfect then, I'll be free most weekdays from about 3.
Lemme know what days would work for you.

Off to Chamonix tomorrow.
Hope the sun comes out.

Just bought a Solomon Answer 159 for Slovakia next week, will be leaving the 164 Apo Diving Board at home. Taking the 155 DOUK Snow Disciples board (my artwork) for park derps too. Many Excite!

Bit OT, but I'm loving Alto's Adventure a snowboarding game on my phone at the moment.
-
• #1175
I'm packed, off to Sauze d'Oulx on weekend! Much excite.
Might do! An old Elan Vertigo (still fine) with some K2 V8 bindings, I used it last year fine, just some of the teeth on the ratchet straps are bit iffy. And the base of the board has a few gouges - not that it would worry you. No Boots though.
Mind you, if you're a beginner you may be better off renting the lot for about £80 a week. Don't forget ski carriage on a plane cost £35 -40 and can be a hassle waiting for oversized baggage.
