So just managed to negotiate new insurance for £350, down from 800 last year and 1200 year before. Nice.
Voice mail from mechanic saying car ready after major service. Called him and turns out major over-fuelling (seems 6-12mph isn't the norm!) problem and suspension motor issue sorts are going to cost another 1,000!
Well, at least he found no rust! ;)

When you picking it up?

My car is getting picked up and taken away by the chap who looks after it- new bumper (old one had a fight with a hare, before I owned the car), some niggling problems sorting, and remapped to get rid of the boost surge.
Be interested to see what the old girl will be like with a lot more timing and without the MAF reaching saturation and panicking.

Tomorrow, but she'll have to go in again in a few weeks for about a week to get step motor, oxy sensors, suspension pump (joys of EAS) all replaced.
He was able to get take her over to a guy with a T4 and the list of registered faults on the computer was over 50 apparently! Fucking range rover, gotta love them.
To be fair the oxy sensors and the suspension pump have only got a working life of 3-4 years anyway so it's not the end of the world.

Was thinking about a v50... and a passat or golf estate... but all of them are gas guzzlers. C3 is good milage, low VED, slow, ugly and sensible. Like me.
Am actually quite keen on getting what I affectionately call a spazz wagon : Berlingo, Kangoo, that sort of thing. My better half is going nuts with me cos they're so basic and super ugly. But that's what I like about them.
+1 for a Kangoo. I've used a couple of them and they're great cars. My dad presently has a kangoo van as a parts-getter. It's the second one we've had and I'm still impressed. The 'car' version is supposed to be even better.

@Skully - Skoda Yeti. A bit like Ann Widdecombe - as tough as old boots with looks to match. Big inside and plenty of room to transport small people (and all the crap which is necessary) as well as bicycles.
I'd have one tomorrow.

Over the years I've been fortunate to work in some of the most desirable parts of our capital city. Within these sections of town some of the wealthiest people dwell. As a result of this, they have rather impressive drums and automobiles to match.
I've also seen some of the most beautiful women on the planet dressed in some of the most beautiful clothes ever created, but it doesn't half give me the horn when I see a woman driving a sports car...
Yesterday I saw a woman in her mid-thirties driving a silver 997 through Knightsbridge. Also, a woman in her twenties driving an F430 through South Kensington. This morning I was fortunate to see a stunning red-head in her forties driving an Aston.
What does one tell the better half?

Tell her that high class hookers in SW3/5/7 make a lot more cash than she does.
Got a mate who works in the city and he got his Mrs a 997 C4S for her 27th birthday. Bitch

If you ever see a blonde bimbo driving a bright yellow Hummer H2 on mahoosive rims through Knightsbridge, shes the Heidi Fleiss of London

Proof, if any were needed, that Volvos have shit roadholding.

Are you a mental?
What is the car doing in that photo?
-
• #9093
First photo it has skidded all over the place and is now on fire
Second photo it has reached the limits of its primitive suspension so quickly that the front wheel is off the ground and it is about to flip over. -

I hasn't even been round that bend. It was coming from straight on. probably
frankly that isn't road "holding", so much as road "letting go"

and the steering wheel is on the wrong side of the car.

F*cking hilarious! ;)

You might want to look at the picture again- the car has just come round the corner at speed and is not understeering despite having only one front wheel on the ground- the picture you are saying shows a lack of road holding is, in fact, showing great road holding.
and the steering wheel is on the wrong side of the car.
Which side is the steering wheel in every rally car?

The chap in the first picture is just trying to deliver a Chippendale dining chair.
The fellow in the second one is just off to have a word with the painter who made his nice beige car in to an orange one, so no wonder he's in a hurry! As for the steering wheel, that's a right hand drive car, but when the rear suspension snapped so did the steering wheel. By an amazing stroke of luck the photographer has just caught the moment that the passenger has caught the wheel.

Sunday night genius.
i.e. you suspect Skully of being a massive retard and unable to park a grownups vehicle?
