  • Indeed. A 110R nice fast back lines. Always had a fondness for these. I love the convenience of a modern motor but yearn for a 70's chariot:)

  • are they the skodas thaqt they used to base the porsche 550 replicas on?

  • I didn't know this car was used as a base for that. The 550 is a thing of beauty whereas the 110 has a retro cool flavour to it, I like them both. :)

Banham did one the spyder i thing, but then changed to using the metro pan. I'm looking at getting one.

Also the rally cars did quite well.

110 had the hotest cam for any skoda engine. Interesting rear suspension

I had a few and loved them to bits. the 136/135 engines had the 8 port head that you could bolt weber 40. Balance bottom end that was good to 8000 as standard, came with oil coolers and later cars solved the rear suspension issues.

Also how many cars do you know that came with 6 pot brake calipers as standard and 4 pot calipers on all other

  • Stock turbine in the chaps hand (one of two that would have been there originally), compared to newly installed turbine:

  • I did a rally course in kielder in one of these, fucking ace.

    Eco-rapist.

At least you did it to England...

  • 7.4litre engine? they could walk the 100 yards that you would get before running out of petrol and give you a kicking too. I wonder what its actual mpg is, but 7.4 litres of fun for the price of a second hand mondeo?...awesome.

What do you think that Hemi needs in terms of injector?

Only just seen this....nice motor. I like the Aussie Mopars.

Anal technical point - It's not a Hemi but a regular big block. At 452ci it's probably the classic, 440 Crank shoved in a 400 block. A very awesome engine combo.

BB Mopars are actually not too bad on MPG**, I could get around 18mpg on the freeway. They suck around town though - I ran a very similar Holley 750 to this one and you're looking at 6-8 at best.

EFI makes a huge difference which is why I'm fitting it to mine! I'm using a manifold injected set up with 8, 60lb/hr injectors and a FAST EZ-EFI brain. Seems we are way behind the curve in the UK with aftermarket EFI.

Dammit you might want to check out the XFI system which is able to handle different fuels and forced induction, it's cool but was a bit OTT for what I wanted.

    www.fastmanefi.com

xx - Actually so much depends on gearing and carb....if you're running 3.73s or above and a massive Holley DP it's going to be juicy, no matter what.

  • Over here the Volvo guys have just cracked the ability to remap the existing (Bosch-Motronic) ECU, over in North America it's Megasquirt or GTFO it would seem for the majority, with the more dedicated using VEM's or ProEFI.

The chap running ProEFI a) hates the lack of documentation and b) is running consistant 10 second passes with it, using it to control the nitrous and the launch control as well as fuelling and boost.

  • I know fuck all about LPG, I take it you can't run standard injectors? As there's plenty of 600cc injectors out there.

  • It's fine for most applications, but for a high pressure turbo install where if you run lean your engine melts you need the head room of bigger injectors, and for LPG (disclaimer- when I last looked at this) these were not available.

Oz is quit correct when he says that you could double up on the injectors, but you'd then need a new manifold, engine loom, ECU, etc etc.

That Lynx points to this as the easy option is, frankly, risible.

  • You want about 75% of duty cycle, so you have that 25% headroom. Which is why Mini people run 550s on 1.6 s'charged 4cyl engines. You must be looking at more than 600s...?

  • Yes.

  • Ok. I appear to have got confused somewhere.

  • Bear in mind that LPG is similar to E85 in that it is Stoich is lower*, so you need more than the equivalent amount of petrol.

So, if you run 600 cc/min injectors for petrol you will likely need 1,000 cc/min injectors for E85 (or LPG).

    *14.7 is petrol, E85 is 9.76

  • fuckin get in there, booyah! she's running and actually moving alright.

got parts after work and 8hrs solid spannering. after a little scare when i started her up and she continued to drink trans fluid for 10min before i got some movement. bit of up and down the driveway, then off for a spin. 4.11's are soo quick off the line, but all shift points are too high and speedo is out a fair bit. suprisingly the diff whine is faint as can be, must of been the new fluids i put in there. car is actually a lot quieter and any drone that was there is gone.

so will drop by tuners in morning and see if we can get her in over the next couple days.

thanks for the help for those that offered it. :)

  • Dammit are you on TurboBricks?
Sound like a volvo man :D

I spent donkies playing with volvo's, though I never ventured into anything more modern than RWD 700's with redblock turbos. Built a rusty 255k filth machine from a free 745 + 2.3t motronic big valve (531 head I think was the job, not the popular bike tubing) + larger turbo + ford mustang v6 injector (more lbs) + ghetto ecu mod + 3" ebay mandrel bend pipe with no silencers/cat/anything + welded diff (just because, it didn't handle in the first place, so nothing to loose). Was 160hp, after 220/230hp + 250lb of torques. Was hilarious and surprisingly fun.

Since that went always had it on the cards to build a properly sorted volvo 145 (old and curvy no bumper version) + well appointed D5 + IPD suspensions + jag LSD multi link back end + M90 5spd + roof rack. But never got round to it, on account of my lack of the capitals :p

This sounds like Papa Lazarou's language to me...

  • After the bmw racing engine comments.

Re the injectors, Oz gave you an option of twin injectors. You asked for an injector (well 4), what you should have specified is you wanted an injector that would run with the standard volvo set up. Hence contact delphi.

I had to google that, and I still don't figure.

So, I get four Delphi LPG injectors, and the fifth cylinder will run on fairy dust and magic?

Or do you not know what you are talking about?

I'm on Turbobricks as Dammit, I don't post much but my car build thread is on there- extremely slow moving as it is!

It's getting a full 3" Feritta turbo-back shortly, plus front and rear IPD sways.

What happened to your turbo red block? Sounds like it would have been a riot?

Wow forgot the volvo was a 5 pot, have been dealing with 4 pots today and a cunning plan to show my prowess on something completly points less.

You contact delphi with a spec, and see if they can help or make you some. Chose delphi as they are in the midlands ish. Also look at the ecu and its ability to control the injector.
