I love the look of that MG- would be a great project.
Would I be burnt in effigy by the MG police if I put a modern engine in there?
dude, the mgb (possibly) has had more engine swaps than any other car.
v8 (ford, sbc, rover, ls etc...)
V6 (buick, etc)
o-series
k-series
mazda twink and rotary
the list goes on and on.Please don't kill an SD1 for them.
However, get an old LDV ambulance or police van and you get a v8 and the strongest LT77 (or even an R380!), and nobody cares about vans.but then i don't get to butcher the car for parts and get my money back :P
i may have found an engine/box out of a rangey. price? the spare 4-speed overdrive mgb 'box i have sitting in my garage! not confirmed, but i hope so.
:-O

It's not like the old days. Used SD1 parts are now virtually worthless as you can buy almost everything to make a brand new one from Rimmer Bros pretty cheap. Back in the late 80s Rover sent over thousands of CKD kits to an Indian factory so they could build them over there. The venture failed very quickly and it was all assumed lost. A couple of years ago an email from India resulted in Rimmers buying it all and shipping it back here.

I would guess that you can pick up the bits to replace the transfer box with a rear drive housing pretty easily. The strongest (rear drive) boxes apparently went in Sherpas (diesel or V8) and Jaguars (XJ6 series 3).

They have surprisingly little left of the originals now. I've found that he after market stuff they're selling is jacking up in price due to this fact.
Try £280 for a new washer reservoir.
Anyway. Please lets have pics up here guys. Chats got pretty boring for most of us recently.
